Can a regular multimeter be used to bias the older Herberts (around 2005 models) or do you need something specific like a bias king? Thanks so much!!!

Better get a bias rite or bias king. A dual adaptor is ok.

In 2005 Herberts had no external bias points and timmers.

(You can use just a DMM, but you must know what to do where - 480 Volts inside.)

Well it would be simpler.... If you are not use to poking around inside tube amps with lethal 500v Voltages... It would be safer too. I can recoment a Comp U Bias it adds the Cathode voltage as well and shows you the wattage the tube is putting out at idle.

If your comfortabe... Pin 3 on the Powertubes has your Plate voltages. If you take a 1 Ohm resister, and bridge it across tube pins 1 & 8 and then run it to ground you can measure what the tube is pulling... I'm also assuming you know the formulas for disapation etc... But then again... These gentleman at Diezel will let you know where each type of tube should be! It's also in the Tech Corner online on the Diezel Web Site

Best,
