When I set MV1 at about 11oclock and MV2 at 12oclock MV2 gives me a drop in volume. In order to actually get a boost on MV2 I have to go about 2 to 2.5 higher than MV1. Also some have said MV2 sounds sweeter than MV1, to me I lose some depth in tone going to MV2.

Could this be a preamp tube issue? If yes is a certain tube(s) used only for MV2?

Thanks for any input.

The Master 1 and Master 2 are basically the same potentiometer switched out by a relay. The signal feeds directly into V6.
The taper is more likely a bit different on Master 2 so it is not matching up exactly with Master 1. These pots can have a 10-15%
difference in tolerance. The change in tone you mentioned is normal. I hear the same thing.

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it!!

if you wanted to adapt, you could losen the MV2-knob, adjust MV1 and MV2 to same level and tighten the MV2-knob at this point

I know this the other way around: My MV2 is on a lower setting than MV1, but louder
Also it sounds better because of the characteristics of more power tube saturation is involved
