Spent some more time comparing my new Sherlock Fat Head against my Mk1 Herbert.

These tests were for my own geeking out so though I'd share the results.

Everything is re-amped through the same cab and mic setup so the only variable here are the amps.

Have some samples of iso clips against the full mix.

Never heard of Sherlock but that thing sounds great. Herbie seems to sit back more as expected
It’s a very small brand in Australia ran by 1 guy… been around for nearly 30 years or so

I hear that herb as softer and yes sits back. Little more grind in the mids of the Sherlock and more pronounced highs. More open too

Herbert wins by a mile to me. Especially in the mix. The Sherlock sounds super thin in the 3-400 range to me personally, Herbert just sounds much fuller and direct. The first 2 clips are definitely not volume matched either, there’s no way to compare unless you are volume matching comparisons. You have all the parameters right, except that one.

I hear what you mean around the 3-400.

Not sure if I did this correctly but I tried to match volumes by normalizing the files to the same LUFS value.
I've tried to normalize to same peaks etc. in the past but that doesn't seem to work as well.
