Diezel Herbert 4 ohm output to 8 ohm mesa input 4x12 cab. What would the outcome be vs. Diezel Herbert 8 ohm output to 8 ohm mesa input 4x12?

Reason I ask is because last time I plugged the speaker cable back into the Herbert I put it in the 4 ohm jack
I didn't notice until today when I was going to run a different cab with it.
I know have it back in 8 ohm, but I just want to know what the outcome would be in that state.

Maybe I am mental but I could of sworn the amp sounded less compressed when it was set that way.

Mismatch like this is usually OK, as long as the amp is feeding a higher ohm rating. Mismatch the other way is not...you would not want to send the 16 ohm out from Herbert to an 8 ohm cab.

Not sure about the sound difference. What exactly did you hear? You said less compressed, anything else?

It sounded a bit tighter.
I put it back in the correct state, but if it doesn't cause issues I will go back.

Does running the amp on 4ohms instead of 8 or 16 put more stress on power tubes or the amplifier itself or is that a myth? I remember reading something like that on marshall forums so I was just wondering and want to make sure because I'm running my Herbert 4ohms at the moment.
