Hey guys, i was trying to get a bit of info on the different versions of the Diezel Herbert and what the differences were between those versions.
I am acquiring an older version through a trade (which i believe doesnt have the external bias) and wanted to know how different it would be to the other version(s) if at all.

thanks!

The only thing that changed is the external bias afaik - I think Peter commented on this a few times already...maybe the search will yield results for you?

^ lol. need one for the VH4 too. ;)
Really? I thought the VH4 did infact have some changes to the voicings a couple of times. I was pretty certain the blue face ones sound different. Also I had a silver face one from 2001 and I've heard there have been rather noticable updates/changes since then. Is this not right?

I rememeber the whole Mk I, Mk II, & MK 2.5 thing with the Herbert. I recall talking to Uwe a long time ago and he did indicate there were some Herbert changes, but that the changes, or minor tweaks, were so slight as to not even be worth mentioning. He indicated internet hype kind of blew that out of propotion. There is a red one floating around that used to belong to Buckethead. Rumor has it :D , that one is probably the most different sounding compared to the production Herbert.

Wizard of Ozz was just being sarcastic. There are some epic Wiz/Duolos battle threads on HCAF over whether or not modifications were made to the VH4. Great reading if you like message board flame fests. :D

There are two versions of the Herbert from what I understand. I remember a post where Peter debunked the v2.5. I don't know if older Herberts sound different from newer Herberts, but I will say, based on my experience, that newer VH4s definately sound alot better than older ones.

from what i understand, it's just the external bias. 299 and below, no external bias. 300 and above, with external bias????

http://diezel.typo3.inpublica.de/tech-corner.3.0.html go to the biasing part on the herbert...

as far as sound, i have no idea. i only have 206. and i don't think the ones that ship out with the new tubes is 'another version.' it's just that, different tubes.

of course, i'm no expert. i like your music btw. i was in the other forum and happen to read about your neighbor. that sucks. i think you'll like the herbert... judging by what your friend is willing to trade, that must be some serious kit you got.
