..anybody here have any experience with that?
My previous setup was a rocktron Prophesy through a VHT 2502. Now that im 95% sure that im going to buy a Herbert or VH4 im curious as to if i can use my rocktron for my effects. Im hoping also that it wont color the tone too much.
The reason im holding back on buying a diezel is that im worried i wont know how to sync everything up together. I want to use the Behringer FCB as my one and only control for both the herbert and the rocktron.
If you dont recommend the rocktron, anything else thats more affordable? All i really need is is a good reverb, delay, chorus, and eq.

I use an old Rocktron Intellifex with my Herbert and it sounds outstanding. Not only should you be able to use your Prophesy for effects, you could also use it in it's full capacity as a pre-amp in the switchable loop for more variety. That's the most amazing thing about the Diezel amps besides their great tone. The versatility of the switching & loops is really outstanding. I sometimes run my Triaxis in the switchable loop when I want a little "Boogie" action. However, I seem to use that feature less & less because I like the Diezel tone's in Channels 1-3 better than anything else these days!

I think all you have to do is plug it through your effects loop like you would an effects pedal. Something like that. No need to pay anyone, the good folks here at Rig-Talk will tell you exactly how to do it! I would tell you, but I don't know how exactly, as I don't use any effects... at least not yet.

from Herbert's Manual:
3.2.4 Switch-able Loop for external pre-amp
One might extend one’s tonal variety by hooking up an external guitar pre-amp to
the switch-able return jack. Now the external preamp, once selected via the
“Loop” function, can feed the Herbert’s power amp.

the vh4 does not have a switchable return but still could run a preamp into it's serial or parallel loop. as for effects, the loops on both amps will run your prophesy just fine.

i know midi can be intimidating to someone who's never used it before. i was intimidated by it. but most people are pleasantly surprised when they make the jump into midi because they find that its actually pretty simple and very user-friendly. reading your manuals will get you a long way...

Let's see if I can remember how to do this?

You'll need to get yourself a good quality A/B box. I'd suggest the one from Radial. Run the A out to the input of the Diezel & The B out to the input of the Prophesy. The output of the Prophesy to the "Return" of the Switchable Loop. From there, you'll need to learn how to program the midi switching which is explained in the owner's manual pretty well.

im pretty sure ...since im interested in buying a prophesy for the same thing. all you woudl have to do is hook up the send from the herbert into the input of the prophesy and the output of the prophesy into the return of the switchable loop. run the midi cable from your controller into the midi in on the herbert and connect one more midi cable from your herberts midi thru to the midi in on your prophesy. this is how i run my tc electronic g major...and it works fine (except that the g major is a piece of junk that constantly freezes and barely even powers up anymore...hence why im interested in the prophecy. ) In order to control every thing you have to set corresponding patches on your prophesy to your herbert...so a different patch for each switch on your midi controller. ie switch one is herbert channel two ...fx loop switched on and prophesy on reverb and delay patch that youve created.
