OK, so as I've reunited with the Diezel Paul, I realize that I've never really given the way it's marketed as having a "classic sound" much consideration. The more I play it, the more geared towards metal it seems. In fact, I think the D-Moll is capable of more mellow tones. If the Paul had the mid contour that the D-Moll has, I think it would actually sound more aggressive. I'm really not getting a classic vibe because when I compare it to my Helios, it's kind of hi-fi and a bit sharper. The Helios has a vintage warmth to it. The Paul has a VERY nice warmth to it, but it's aggressive. I don't know man. I'm thinking that the Paul is pretty damned capable of the brootz. What do you guys think?

I've not tried a Paul yet but am not surprised to hear that it can do the brootz based on the clips I've heard. Pretty much all the diezels have that hi-fi quality. The Helios is gonna be a lot more raw and organic than the diezels. I felt that the Helios is possibly the most raw and organic amp made today (my wizard MTL is also there for that). Still not quite as raw as the vintage marshalls and mesas but very very close. I'm curious to try the Paul and Big Max. It sounds like maybe the Paul is like a modern take on a vintage sound, but I'll have to try one to know for sure

Man I think the Helios can get pretty damned brutal. It's an amazing amp.

I love my Paul. It gets pretty dang heavy.

That's your video? I watched that one but a little hard to tell because it was recorded from the camera mic. If that's your video then that's an awesome amp collection you have. How would you describe a comparison of your D-Moll, Paul, and Uberschall? Is it a rev b?

Yes sir. You would think with all the shit I have I would have a damn mic.

Thanks for the compliment bro!

My Uber is a rev green with KT88s. The bottom end on the Diezel's are slightly looser than the Uber. The Paul has more upper mids than the other two. The Paul has a slightly more Marshall flavor to it but it's still 100% awesome Diezel tone to me. It cuts incredibly well. My favorite Diezel to date. I've owned the Herbert and played the VH4 for a couple weeks as reference. The Paul just has everything I would want in an amp. This was ch3 in the vid. Ch2 gets really heavy as well but it also gains down nicely for more traditional tones. The clean is one of the best, sounds a lot like the D-Moll. The Uber is a tighter metal machine. The Paul is no slouch in the metal department but it was never marketed as such. It really surprised my how brutal it gets though. Great overall amp!!

I made the Paul sound as if you didn't know. You own one!!

I think the Paul can do the heavy stuff, but to my ears, there are other amps in the Diezel line that are better suited for that. The Paul has more Marshall DNA than you will hear in other Diezels. It also responds really well to your guitar's volume knob and changes in your pick attack, more so than say a VH4 or an Einstein.

I owned a Helios 50 watter that I thought was really great, but I like the Paul a bit better and think it may actually be a bit more touch responsive than the Helios is... I live on channel 2 though, with gain just below noon. When I jump to channel 3 or turn the gain up on Channel 2, it becomes a whole different thing to the point where I would then prefer the Helios for the higher gain stuff.

This is a short clip of how I like to dial in the Paul most of the time. (Channel 2)

The D-Moll doesn't get enough credit for it's clean/cleanish/bluesy tones. To me the D-Moll actually sounds slightly smoother. I had to go to a local shop and compare the D-Moll once again to my Paul and now am kind of wondering if I should swap my Paul for a D-Moll before my 14 day return period is up. It's really hard to say because they're both so damned good. There are some similarities in the tone. The thing is that I have a lot easier time dialing in the D-Moll than the Paul. The D-Moll's mid contour really makes it easy. It seems like the Paul has a bit more sensitive EQ section and a bit more stubborn about it's meaty mids than the D-Moll. Damn.

How did you get KT88s in your Rev Green? I thought the Rev Green was just a rev 2 with a green LED. To my knowledge the current Rev B has the same volume taper and I think something else having to do with the FX loop or something. I suppose it would be good to know the real difference. Anyway, how does it compare to the Twin Jet?

Yeah the Paul really shines on channel 2. You can almost live on that channel. To me, channel 3 is better for rhythm and channel 2 is better for lead. I find it easier to cut through on channel 2. Channel 3 I think has more low mids and seems to like mid scooping better than channel 2. Some dudes say they don't even touch channel 3. What do you think?

There's a guy I work with who is real into the whole liberal snowflake thing. He tends to carry little grudges from conversation to conversation too. It's kind of his way of trolling. You guys would probably get along real well.
