Diezel Paul

Seems like this amp doesn't get talked about a whole lot, so I figured I'd offer up some thoughts and some new clips.

When I first heard the amp, it was the clean tones on Channel 1 that got my attention. Since then, I've come to love channel 2 just as much. Classic rock is definitely my thing, and channel 2 of the Paul really delivers big time for this type of sound. It can be dialed in to sound more Marshall-like than any other Diezel I've tried.

With the gain between 9 o'clock and 11 o'clock on the second channel, the amp sounds really open, tight, warm, and organic. And it cleans up really well. To me, channel 2 behaves like a really great non-master volume amp, but with the added bonus of all the features you typically get on a Diezel (series and parallel loops, midi, second Master volume, multiple channels etc).

Here's a clip where I tried to demonstrate the kinds of tones offered on Channel 2. I'm using a Palermo super strat with an EVH Frankenstein humbucker. (Sm57 on an H75 Creamback)

Sounded incredible! Keep forgetting about the Paul and how good it sounds. Great playing too

Sounds awesome

But TBH the "open" characteristic doesn't really come through in the clip; sounds more VH than classic rock "Non-master volume" type tones IMHO. Sounds quite compressed, but I'm sure that's got a lot to do with the compression going on in the recording/clip.

Thanks man. Yeah, there is definitely more compression happening with this amp than you'd get with a non-master volume plexi type amp. Beyond a bit or reverb though, I didn't touch anything after recording... no eq, compression, etc added. With respect to the non master comparison, I guess I'm drawing that parallel more in terms of how the Paul behaves when you pick softly or roll down the guitar's volume. It just really responds to the player's touch in a way that I think would surprise people who may dismiss the Diezel brand as one that doesn't offer that kind of thing.

Thank you. And yeah, I think a lot of people forgot about this amp after it was initially released. It's just not on most people's radar for whatever reason.

Pretty dynamic then huh, Right on. Sounds like a phenomenal amp!

I've wanted to try one of these for awhile, but haven't had a chance to, yet. I think it sounds great, from the clips I've heard, and from your description, sounds like it's a lot of fun to play, too. Very intriguing...

Sounds very good!
Seems to do the classic/hard rock/VH thing a lot better than the Herbert and D-Moll I've played in the past.

Yeah, for sure, it does do those things really well. I think a lot of people tend to regard Diezels as strictly metal amps, but there's a lot more to the brand than that. I'm curious to try the Big Max next.
