Noob time. How would I hook up a delay and wah pedal if I want them to be used by all the channels? I would assume it would be set up like this: guitar to wah to delay to amp but I was told that with the VH4 you can do it differently and it sounds better keeps your signal path to your amp clear or something?

I don't know for sure haha. I am an uber noob.

guitar->wah->amp->effects send 1->delay->effects return serial

Would this allow for the delay to be midi switchable? Like I could have it on all the time just assign it to a button on my midi board?

The parallel loop is midi switchable, and the channel inserts if you want to use it for just one channel.

Yes, use parallel only if your delay has full wet setting though.

You may just want to experiment... It's hard to say - I put my wah in front of the amp, I put DD in the parallel loop. I utilize front, serial and parallel for my FX and at the end of the day, try to keep it bare minimum. Which isn't hard - the naked sound is off the hook :D

This would be a very bad idea noob. :D

Just kidding, everyone's been there dude. The advice in this thread is spot on. I just wanted to clarify a couple of things. I would go guitar -> wah -> VH4 -> Parallel or Serial Loop to the delay

As was said before, only use the parallel loop if you can turn up your delay to 100% mix otherwise you will notice your guitar tone will sound extremely thin and anemic. The benefit of the parallel loop is that it runs parallel to your dry clean tone for you to mix in at your leisure with the parallel loop volume knob. In essence you can turn that knob all the way down and you will just be left with your clean tone. I however run my delay in serial so that I can do more of the out there ambient stuff where the dry tone is totally obscured. This would be to the detriment of my guitar tone, but I run my delay in a true bypass loop system so that I can cut it out of the signal path altogether :thumbsup:
