So I just changed the power tubes in my VH4 (Ruby EL34) I biased to 65-67mA pair
I don't really have the ability to push the volume up very high at home. So I was wondering if maybe I should bias it up to 70-72mA to push the tubes a bit harder for better tone.
What's your thoughts on this?

Also, after replacing the tubes and bias, should I go back in a few days after and check the bias again after break in?
I know Laura burned these in for a whole before I got them, but I just wanted to check.

Drifting occurs over time, so it's good to check it after a good 10 hours of shit-kicking.

35mA is the usual recommended range for EL34s (each, therefore, 70mA per pair).

Peace

All depends on the tube too, but if you wanna a little more smoothness, run 'em a touch higher. Want more growl and bubble, a little lower. But overall, I've found the amp does the talking - not as much the tubes, when it comes to Diezels. I've usually gone with the recommended levels and never had an issues. Never.

What type of bottles did you get?

As there usually is some difference even in matched sets, I would start by setting the bias to 35 mA for the tube having the lowest reading then checking how much is the difference between highest and lowest reading. This usually leads into a bit higher than 70 mA per pair. After that it is all about ears (+ quick sanity check with meter before unpluging).
