Diezel VHX blend with 2nd preamp into fx loop

Hi,

i am experimenting with my "Diezel VHX" and my new multi-fx "Fender Tonemaster PRO". I'm trying to blend the diezel vhx preamp with the preamp simulations of the tone master pro like the following configuration:

Tonemaster pro (output 1) > Lele split III (phase inverter on) > Diezel VHX: FX loop A (return) (mix live. 0.5 / r level 0.5)
Tonemaster pro (output 2) > Diezel VHX (input)

I like the Sound separate (without VHX preamp = no blend) but if i blend it sounds different, more boomy bass low-end which i didn't like. Maybe a phase issue (but i had already changed the phase with the "Lele split III" because it sounded thin without phase inverted)?

Hoping someone has experience or can help me.

Best regards

Bernd

I would say that you are correct in thinking the out of phase scenario is the thinner sound. My guess is the “boomy bass low-end” is caused by two preamp signals hitting the phase inverter at the same time. Have you tried adjusting the eq and/or gain on the preamps?

Edit: Not sure if I read your post correctly. Is the Fender preamp hitting the front of the VHX as well as the FX return? You might try sending your guitar signal to the Lele first…

I am splitting the signal in the Tonemaster Pro .One signal with Fender preamps Simulation (output 1) goes into the "Lele Split III" for phase inverting and than into the fx loop form the Diezel VHX. The second Signal goes without preamp simulation (output 2) from the Fender Tonemaster Pro direkt into the front input of the Diezel VHX.
Both Signals together are much louder, than only one signal. Maybe the poweramp is driven much harder and that's the reason for the sounddiffrence compared to only one signal.

I don't quite know what you're really doing as far as running that thing into both the FX loop and input, but I sometimes run into an ABY box to use my VHX and another amp (recently my Mark V) and it's always louder in stereo if they're at ~parity volume-wise in mono.
