Hey, what about a modern Diesel type module? I was listening to the latest Tool CD today thinking why don't we have a real grinding modern module?
I guess the Erect gets as close as you are going to get. I love that thing.

Write me down for an order as well! A more german inspired modern high gain, something similar in gain but different in style to the EG5. The Ying to the EG5's Yang.

Adam Jones is reported to have used an Uberschall and a Rivera Knucklehead as well. There isnt really one module, or amp that could capture that complete sound.

I wouldn't expect to nail that tone because he uses so many amps from Mesa, to Marshall to Rivera to Diezel. I just think it would be cool having a beefy German inspired high gain module. Maybe a modified EG5 would do it. The MHG is an idea but I can get my SL2 very close to the MHG with the bass boost and gain up on channel B.

Yeah, that would be pretty cool man...

Don't shoot me, but I was listening to some Metallica Death Magnetic yesterday. If that's what a Diezel sounds like... that's a pretty damn good tone.

Perhaps this new German metal module could be called:

- Luger
- Shnitzel
- Wurst
- DZ

You can get that tone with the new digital clipping module.

the death magnetic tone's not bad, and probably sounded a LOT better before being compressed to hell.

as for adam jones, he uses the diezel vh4, but he mixes it with lots of other high gain amps (marshall, mesa typically). from what i've read, for both studio/live he runs through a very simple pedalboard to three dirty amps. he doesn't need a lot of cleans so he just rolls down the guitar volume when he does. very powerful tone, but for most of us a triple amp blend is pretty impractical.

He mixes a 2000-2003 VH4 and a VH4 Blueface, along with a 1976 Marshall Super Bass....at least he DID...

I was playing around with my erect, and it does old tool really well.. I haven't heard the new album yet, but i really dig the erect tone.. can't believe i thought about selling it...

I like it too but when I used it with the band, it didn't stand out as much or sound as full as my other modules....plus much more stiff and not as fun for soloing.

i think theres alot of overlap with a bass player.. depending on the style of music, it works well, because you can get a really tight punchy sound. I find myself running the low's around 2 o'clock when i'm jamming by myself, and around 10 o'clock when i'm playing with my band..

I just figured I'd bring this back up to the top, cause I would buy a Diezel inspired module in a heartbeat too!!!
