Can anyone explain the differences bwteen the 2 ?

Short answer:

CCV is more open and organic sounding. CCM is more scooped and "nu" sounding. Similar to the

XTC Classic vs. XTC 101B

That said I have experience with the CCV and have only been told about the CCM so hopefully Mark can chime in here.

You're up early! Scooped! I don't like that word!

I own a ccv... and Had the pleasure of having the CCM here for about a month when Chris lent me his.

The CCV is super versatile and more of an AHHHHHH type of sound... The cleans and blues tones are absolutly stunning in this amp!!!!!!!!! I cannot stress that enough, the Hi gain and rock tons are incredible to...It is definatly smoother than the CCM...

If you want more teethy modern tones, the ccm is the amp for you , the clean stuff it does is sick to, but its a little different. The CCM has that Ooooooooooo like U ooooo sound.... still lots of mids just voiced differently..... I have to have both at this point..

I plan on using my CCV for my clean / blues and lead tones ... and my ccm/ccv combined for my rhythm tones in my rig.

For the First Time in 15 years I am finally absolutly in love my sound !

hope that helped!

Here's what I have been able to deduce...The CCV has a sweeter midrange, the CCM has a more aggressive midrange. The CCV is closer to a Marshall, the CCM closer to a Boogie. If you play metal, I'd imagine the CCM would be the obvious choice...rock to hard rock - your call. Blues or Classic rock - CCV. The CCV has more of a plexi-ish clean, while the CCM is more of fat twin clean. The CCV cleans up better on the gain channel. This is just my best judgement from the clips / hearing Mark talk about each...incredibly versatile amps...I am waiting on a CCV and it would probably be toss up between the CCM and an Uberschall down the road, depending on how different the CCV and CCM can be setup. Hope this helps...

+1 man ... and well put...

I've realized it more now that ive had the ccv for a bit I finally really understand the amp and what it does. It's just amazing, I have never heard a strat sound so good! If you use the voicing dip switch above the punch control and set it to the right and crank the punch control , and then set the dip switch over the presence to the right and keep the presence around noon , you pretty much can't get a bad strat tone from that point on. It just fattens the strat up and really translates what a strat shoud really sound like. I listened to some friends use my ccv on a gig last night and they were playing strats and a pauls. The most impressive thing was just how very different the two guitars sounded and the way that the amp did not have to be loud to cut through and project... More so than on any other amp ie ever heard

If i had to sum it up even deeper, the CCM seems to have more high mids and a bit tighter and bigger of a low end which contributes to the over all voice of the amp quite a bit. I'd also say the CCM is the more unique sounding especially with the clean channel , its like nothing ive heard really...and in my opinion ive never heard a boogie that sounded anywhere near as good as this thing, Seriously.

In my opinion you can't go wrong with either, Just depends on what you play and what you like ! :D

Thanks, I try to give my best objective viewpoint. The parallel between the CCM and a Boogie was just a rough approximation from what Mark was using to compare the two in the youtube video I saw...I agree, if the Triple Rectifier I used to own sounded anywhere near as good the CCM, I'd still have it...sounds MUCH better! Nick, how'd the CCV fair for the blues jam? (This is Zack, btw :) )

sup zack! glad i now know who you are!

totally dude, your comparison is def correct...lets just say last night i turned some serious players heads and took 3 orders at the company party lol So i think it did well lol :D

I just put my sd1 in front of my ccv......oh dear god..... :D

Nice.

I use a TIM in front of my Aldrich. It makes it a blow torch. In fact, any pedal in front makes it a blow torch.
Yeah I built a TS808 clone with the Landgraff mods and an early 80's JRC4558 chip and it is amazing with the Aldrich.

The Aldrich doesnt need it, but boy does it sound good with a pedal out in front. I use an old TS with it as well, but there is a little bit of un-needed compression, so I mainly use the TIM.
I find that I don't get that compression with the Landgraff mods turned on which essentially is just LEDS for the clipping and a larger bass cap.
