Dimarzio Super 3 in an Ibanez RG?

Anyone tried it? If so, how'd it sound?

Looks like its EQ'd to sound pretty beefy, so maybe it'd thicken up the tone a bit in my RG550 compared to the stock pickups!

whats in there now, Bro!! your thinkin its a little thin? on the Bottom end? with maple board/neck on alder its prolly all top an no mids??? :lol: :LOL: whats it tuned to normally?....

Hey H!

It still has the stock buckers in it (V8 in the bridge) and its tuned to E standard. It sounds small... if that makes sense. Lacks beef :D doesnt have loadsa bottom end, and its mostly top with not enough mids!

Oh yeah its a maple neck/board with basswood body :thumbsup:
 
One other thing i forgot to mention... im 90% sure that there is a bright cap on the volume pot aswell as the tone pot. I dont have a cap on any of the volumes on my other guitars, so im probably gonna remove it!

Yup, and yup!! :lol: :LOL: V8's only good in the A.M. w/ Vodka, doesnt belong in a Iby... personally? I put the tone zone in my 550 and was happy. ANYTHING u put in there is gonna rape the ass out of the stock pup config. an yeah, I pull the cap, against recommedations, I think those guitars are bright enuff, didnt like the load diff I heard in a/b tests on that as well as my 3120.... :rock:

Cool!! Well il ditch the stock pickups and definitly ditch the cap.. not sure what im gonna put in the guitar yet... may end up putting the Aldrich pickups in it like i did with my GMW. They brought the GMW to life and made it sound 100% better... :rock:

I have been digging the Breed7 in one of my 1527s, not quite as hot as the EVO and has more mids imo.

I think mids is what this guitar is lacking... my other guitars are really mid boosted and chunky due to the pickups in them, so this guitar needs somethin to give it just that!
 
The stock bridge pickup is a Super 3 in my Heartfield Talon V (sort of like an RG 750 but, cooler IMO, designed by Fender, made by Ibanez). There's never a time I pick up that guitar and think the tone is lacking. Try it.
 
I bought one for my last Ibanez. It was fuked up. It buzzed a lot but was also really bassy. So I sent it back for the good old Evo 2.

DiMarzio Evolutions IMO have more mids than the Breeds
 
I have a Jem 7d neck on an RG550 body with a super 3 and it's pure tits.
 
Ok well i think il try one out, when i get some spare cash soon il get the Super 3 and see what i think :thumbsup:
