I live in Canada and want to buy a VH4.
Am I up shit creek as far as getting one under $5000 new?

i know it sucks but with the way the markets are right now
you might be looking at a used one for that price. Andy is a awsome
guy at diffusion audio the canadian distributor for diezel he will try
to help you the best he can. but with our dollar the way it is a person
can only do so much.

Eeeesh. 6k.

Looks like I'm buying used.

What year did Peter switch to the new Channel 3?

I really dont know what year he changed the voicing
since i dont own a VH4   but yeah i know 6k
is huge i happy i bought my diezel before the dollar went
down so i got it when it was 4399 canadian before taxes
and shipping

Hmmmmmmm .... I never touched channel 3 since one decade.
Is this a new rumour ?

I have no idea peter, but I can honestly tell you that I've heard A LOT of ppl say that they played an "old" Vh4 (2001 - 2004 and it sounded not nearly as good as the current ones. 2007 - 2008

have you done anything to the transformers ?

I here on here lots that they are different
sorry if iam wrong

Oh! and taylor there is a herbert for $3000
on ebay right now i know it is not a vh4 but
iam just letting you know

for example, today popped up a thread in the HArmony Central Amp forum here's the post:

Diezel VH4 is ::::LOVE:::::
So I picked up a new 2008 VH4 and it is just killer. I debated selling it not long after buying it because it is just sooooo expensive and hard to justify the $$$ but I just can't do it. After spending more time with it, I've realized it's the best tone I've ever heard from an amp and I've owned a ton of amps. I really love my Mark IV but when I play them back to back, the IV just doesn't have the tightness, thump, girth, crunch and chewy tone that the VH4 has. God damn this is a killer amp. If any of you tried the VH4 in the past and didn't care for it, give the newer version a spin. It's

I played one back in '02 or '03 and hated it but this new version is just . I never thought I would say it but I think I may sell the Mark IV. It's definitely my second favorite amp though.

and I've read comments like this A LOT (more than 10 ppl saying it, both ppl that have only"tried" the amp and ppl that have owned both versions.

either way UPDATE MINE once it gets there please! :D

Newer models have a more bass amount. Maybe people
will like it or not.

oh, interesting........ maybe that "bass update" makes the amp tighter?

btw, there seems to be more "gain" i the newer models too right?

because for example my VH4 (2001 model) needs to have the gain knob at 4:00 - 5:00 oclock in ch3 to sound "HEAVY" and I've read that the newer models once you're pass 2:00 oclock is overkill..... what do you say about this?

It looks like the VH4 is going to be my new amp.

Now I gotta find a used one as 6k for one is just too much.

Of course there are sometimes tolerances of components and tubes.
Did You buy the amps new ?

ive in Canada and want to buy a VH4.

IT's a tough one......I bought my Einstein last Mar from Andy @ Diffusion Audio. Probably the best customer service I've had yet to date. The lucky thing was, the dollar was about at Par at that time.....so I saved a ton of $$$ at the time.
Glad I bought it when I did.
