Do you use the Bias Rite or similar for biasing the VH4?

Hello guys!!!

I would like to ask you, all VH4 owners, if you are using a Bias Rite or similar for the biasing? does it work well, or is there any other recommended method?

I'm used to the external bias point of the Einstein (VERY useful for newbies like me), and now I'm thinking on buying it for my new VH4 to make the process easier...

Thank you!!
Raul.

Hi Raul,

if you have a digital multimeter - get this:

25 Euros

I will teach you how to use it then with your VH4.

No need to spend big bucks . . . (although the BR of course is useful).

Hello Doc!! :)
Yes, I've got the digital multimeter, but the process "scares" me a bit... that's the main problem.
But yes, maybe with some "lessons" will be enough... thank you Olaf! :)

Yes, a simple adaptor, just like those of the bias rite - and without the "box" - you replace that with your DMM.

This adaptor (like the bias rite) goes between the socket and one of the (matched) tubes. Hooked to you multimeter, which is set to 200mV DC, it shows mV (which due to an 1 Ohm resistor convert to mA) and indicates the idle bias current.

Just get it and I'll make a vid with my VH4 (I also have this adaptor) for you (and everybody else who is interested of course).

The Bias rite is a great and simple to use tool.. Not scary either!

+1 on the Bias Rite. Works great!!!! and safe as hell. :D

Absolutely - we even recommend it on the website (tech corner).

But Raul also has an Einstein and uses a DMM with the external points to bias it, so paying 100$ plus shipping from the states for a BR is a bit överkill IMO - and the simple adaptor + his DMM will do exactly the same thing :)

again Olaf is correct. My Herbie is from the stone age..so i have no ext bias points...

Hey Raul, I bought the probe Olaf is recommending, he tought me how to use it, and it works great....the only setback is having to pull the amp out of the chasis which you have to do anyways.

It's simple, low cost and danger free.

I would love to see a video
