I'd love to get into the business but alas, I'm in NYC.

Hey Brian..I know this is out of the blue, but were you ever
working for/ involved with a biz called Lab Sound back in the late
80's or early 90's- The rack guys that were doing alot of
the cool big rack systems in the day....your name rang a bell.....
.......I think I saw your name on some of the credits of the
Liaison disks....Those guys made 2 or 3 really great albums and
the one I dig the most is "Urgency".....Great tones....

Yes, that was me. I wired and programmed rigs for over 100 artists in that era. Wow - that was a lot of 280 plugs!!!

i saw a rack you did for sean at mesa fountain valley many years go now and i swear it was THE coolest rack i'd ever seen in person. pristine job.
i walked into the shop one day and he was in the back and heard him play ONE NOTE on that rig-
and it was probably the sweetest tone i'd ever heard. it had the IE 4, matchless head, vtwin pre, maverick head....remember that one?

also loved the rig you did for bill of firehouse...STUDLY hospital plug/star ground config.
gambale as well if i'm not mistaken...

and if you run into doyle anytime soon, tell him Pat the soundman from the packinghouse in redlands says hello!
i still think doyle's black rose model is the finest sounding Taylor made, although i was stunned at billy batstone's tone he pulled out of a baby taylor detuned and plugged into either a manley or demeter tube pre.
outrageous!

listen man if you ever need any video production stuff done for clinics or demos in southern cali call me...I love this stuff!

Hey M-man!

Yes, how could I forget Shaun's rigs. It was always fun wiring and programming for Shaun - he makes everything sound great!
So many rigs...
Thanks for the kind words about the DDSM and Billy's guitar. I'm still all about great tone.

Please forward me your contact info - brian.swerdfeger@taylorguitars.com

Blessings,

Brian, I saw a few videos on Youtube of Labsound, mighty cool stuff at that place, wish I had know about it when it was going. Question for you though and sorry for hijacking the thread, in those videos were some rack mounted pieces that had CRT screens in them, were those Vectorscopes or what? I think possibly some type of programmable EQ, am I right?

Grooveking -

You would have felt right at home at LAB! The monitors were indeed connected to a programmable EQ. We mostly used the TC1128 and a RANE piece (I've forgotten the model), and occasionally the ART.

I didn't see this position on the Taylor site. Does the candidate have to live in California or can this be a remote position?

Thanks

nice bump. thread is two years old. I'm pretty sure the positions available are different.

Wow - welcome to time travel. This post is indeed old news.

Current jobs are listed on the Taylor site. We're having a rockin' year and have hired over 85 people in San Diego alone!

Cheers,
