I think we discussed this one recently but I am wondering, is the GE setting essentially germanium and an MXR Distortion +? Since missing out on the RR pedal and not being able to snag one in Europe either, if this pedal is essentially that on the GE setting, I'd grab that to cover my Yngwie and Randy tones in one pedal. We all know the circuit is dead simple and there are what, 3 or 4 component differences between a 250 and Disto+? Anybody know / confirm?

Motherfuckers copied my Mig*Boost toggle switch, that's whassup!

And before you get your panties in a bunch about Soviet themed shit, this was made in 2005 or 2006... tongue firmly planted in cheek.

(full disclosure; the MiG*Boost is basically a modified DOD 250... so kinda ironic... 50th Anniversary...more like 20th Anniversary :ROFLMAO:)

Wayne made one. I think techdeath is getting his yjm on with it. Anyway I’m sure Wayne knows everything about the 250 and whatever else. He would probably build you one if you want. I will supply the special “goop” to protect the circuit….

He's against Canadian shipping and at that point and the exchange rate, it would probably come out the same cost. BTW speeddemon, that Red Mig soviet theme is badass. I love it.

as this was the very first pedal i bought when i moved to Fullerton in 1984 (the yellow one) and loved it until i foolishly let it go years later, this anniversary box was just too tempting and nostalgic to me to pass up.

incoming next week! :m17:

I too have a yellow one from '81 or '82 and a 90's yellow RI, that I modded heavily; it was my first pedal that I made true bypass and added a blue status LED. Later on, I refined some things that found its way into the MiG*Boost. The Si/Ge clipping side is also asymmetrical. The LED clipping gives it less fizz/fuzz, more volume and a more crunchy character. That's the default mode in my modded 90's DOD 250. Added a little toggle switch to switch the input cap too for humbucker/single coil equipped guitars or just a bass cut/boost.

I love Russian made shit; especially their guns. There is a lot of rare Russian weapons out there.
Since I was a kid, I was heavily into fighter jets, especially ones that could outmanouveur a lot of others, whilst being built in a way that it could be repaired in a car garage basically and land on rough grass... -->Soviet jets. Lots of MiGs and Sukhois.
But, one of my all time favourite planes (it doesn't classify as a 'jet') is US made... the Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II.
Shoot a wing off? It still flies. Shoot the nose gun at full blast, it temporarily loses speed due to pushback.

"Hey assholes, you want some freedom? *Brrrrrrrt*".

Looks like the GE setting is also asymmetrical clipping? Like in an SD-1. I may have to get one of these. I have the YJM version DOD 308 or something? I like it, has a harder edge to the attack than the TS/SD1 pedals. Also an old Dist + which doesn’t really have the edge of the DOD and abit more gain.

That thing has a 10 times smaller input cap (0.001uF) than the original grey box and yellow box (0.01uF) DOD 250.
I had one for a while and hated how thin it sounded. Sold it quickly.
Maybe it would work with overly thick sounding humbuckers as a boost, but for boosting a Strat with low output single-coils into a Marshall? Holy Earbleed, Batman! o_O

I bought the RR earlier and also the 50th 250 arrived a week ago but haven't tested those yet. 🙈

I dunno. It doesn’t sound thin with my Tele. But it has a Fralin split blade in the bridge ( fairly low) and Malmsteen neck and middle pickups.

i played mine in the college years through a fender solid state harvard reverb II which i later discovered was one of the amps designed during the Rivera era. for a little 1x10 combo it totally did the bubbly YJM solo tone on the strat neck pickup with that pedal!
