Does Egnater offer a "Try Before You Buy" on modules?

...Or even just an alternative to buying a module in order to hear what it sounds like?

If not, I completely understand given the demand, time, precious resources, etc.

Just curious. I'd really like to play the EG 3/4 and SL2x through my setup and I'm sure
others would be/have been interested in this, as well.

I have thought about buying all the modules for this purpose (rent to others) in the past, but
never got around to it and don't really have the time to do it, either.

Thanks!

No we don't . We do have the policy outside of the dealers. We give you 3 weeks with the new purchase to bond with it. If you don't we get you what does work but we don't give you a refund. I now am giving it some thought about having rental modules for customers to try. Credit card for security deposit and a nominal fee to use them. What do you think about that?

Well, I think it's great from the customer standpoint. The rentees kinda have to be Egnater (well, and Randall, too) customers to begin with since the modules won't work otherwise. I would definitely do it.

Plus I think it'd be a very gracious move by Egnater. I know you guys are in the sales business, not the rental business. No harm in trying it out. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work and Egnater can discontinue it.

The downsides I think are wear/tear on rental modules, but since you are the home base, that's a moot point. Also, dunno how it will affect sales. I could see them boosting from folks renting, trying, and then "gotta have that tone" or stagnating from too much renting/not enough buying. But I am no economics expert. Plus, you probably have to come up with a rental contract to CYA (cover your...)

Sign me up if you decide to pull the trigger. AND I'm looking forward to the Power Amp, too!

While this is a great idea, I think the professionally done soundclips at a studio will help out tremendously.

What's this about?

Man, I must be missing out on something. Is this an Egnater thing? Maybe I read this, but then again, we had a kid in the last couple months, so I am not playing with a full deck lately!

Totally agree. State what module, what settings, what cabinet, and what guitar (no effects). Also, use a single coil and humbucker style guitar with each module to get a flavor for the difference. This would be awesome.

One thing that is CRUCIAL in module soundclips, for me, is a consistent performance. The player really has to be like a robot in this sense.

Same riff, same player, same phrasing, same touch. Then you really hear the difference in the AMP.

James Lugo, playing the same song, same riffs, same person playing (him) really lets you focus on the amp itself.

Don Donagan of Disturbed is just the guy. He played the same thing every time and it was exactly the same every time. Keith will be able to do this no problem and will Ty. We are going to do these clips dry and then they morph into a full band mix. But the same tune for the rock stuff, the same riff and tune for clean etc!

Jeff, you're totally on the right track with this. Having real pro-level players do the playing, and leave us hacks to do what we do best: spend cash on gear.

What's funny is, I was discussing an idea for renting out modules with my wife last week.

Russ

Wait a minute- We could rent a module AND your wife? WOW!!

Just joking.

I think this is a good idea for folks on the fence. I could see myself renting SL2X, EG3/4, and SL for instance to compare as a possible replacement for EG5. There would of course be those out there (RIP Studios comes to mind) that could potentially abuse the system. Definitely CYA with a contract.
