Does Gibson make an F-Spaced version of the 500T?

I don't think they do. They don't make many guitars with a trem. If you like the 500T, Id go with a SD Invader.

I don't think they make one either. There is always the trusty SD Trembucker.

I bet I could custom order one? That would probably cost $200+ though even if I could. :aww:

Trembucker is not a model, it's a different pole spacing designed for trems. I have an Ibanez RG770 with a Custom Custom Trembucker, and it's very nice. Warm round high end. It has alnico II magnets. If you like the 500T, I'd go with something with ceramic magnets.

Anybody know?

Pretty sure that's a NO. Gibson isn't interested in making after-market parts for other guitars. All their stuff is "Gibson spec".

Well they have that new LP with a Floyd right? Maybe it has an F-Spaced 500T in the bridge?

I'd be willing to bet a can of nacho cheese sauce that they just use the regular 500 in the Floyd Paul. Come on, it's Gibson. I don't really think they're going to rediesign anything for one guitar.

Man! thanks for bringing that up. I really want one of those Floyd Pauls. Kinda off topic, I wonder if they do anything "special" to the guitars they put the FRs in. I am thinking for $1600-ish I could buy a Studio LP and OFR and a $200 trip to the Guitar doctor to put it all together... Heck, maybe a grand if I start with a used LP.

If I recall, the spacing is farther apart on the 500T - I remember putting one in a fender spaced guitar, and it matched up better than a Dimarzio or SD normal spaced humbucker.

Oddly enough the guitar I want to put the 500T in doesn't even have a Floyd.

That Schaller bridge is F-Spaced for some strange reason.

how much difference does the spacing really make?

Absolutely none to my ears, but I`m possibly more of a player than a tweaker :D
If it sounds good, I don`t mess with it.
I`ve used SDs, Rio Grandes, Dimarzios without F-spacing in floyd guitars, and I`ve had no troubles. Of course, I`ve never A-B`d F-spaced models against regular ones in identical guitars, but no dropouts or anything like that :)
If looks are important, the magnets don`t align perfectly, though.

Little to none at all.

Edit: ke2 beat me to it.

The 500T is awesome but surely SD have something close in F spacing?

The closest pickup they have would be the Custom. It won't be as high in output and it'll be more focused sounding in the lows.

I believe all les pauls after 94 or 96 use pick-ups that are f spaced just measure the pole spacing.

That's probably not a bad thing, especially for down tuning.

I do like the Custom a lot, but the 500T is probably the best sounding pickup I've ever tried for low tunings. It sounds perfect IMO.

In that case, I'd just give the standard 500T a try. Chances are it fits the spacing well enough to not affect the sound much (if you notice a difference at all). It's larger than the usual Gibson pickups, or at least the ones I had seemed to be at the time, so it should be ok. Anyway I've used standard-spaced pickups in F-spaced guitars a number of times (to the point of having the polepieces not line up well at all) and almost never noticed a difference compared to using an F-spaced one.
