I want a fresh set and was gonna order some 6l6's off dougstubes.com Does the Herbert have the fixed Biasing like the boogies do? or if I buy new 6L6's of what ever brand, I will need it biased? Thanks guys

You or your tech need to adjust the bias when you change the power tubes.

Is this also true even if you are replacing them with the exact same brand & type?

Thanks,

Thanks! Any recommendations on brand of 6L6's? I never had an amp with them, I am used to EL34's. Thanks again!

Brand and type are just two parameters of several. They need to be rebiased.

WHat you want are the SED/=C= tubes, NOT the Svetlanas. Mike Myers of Reflektor Saratov/ Electro Harmonix aquired the North American rights to the Svetlana name. The Svetlana's that you buy here will be from the Reflektor Saratov, AKA the Sovtek factory. SED/ =C= tubes OTOH are the proper tubes that you want, as they are made in the Svetlana Factory in St. Petersburg.

Thanks man, still wanna know why peter Frantic are saying EL34's as this one came with 6l6's and is that not what they are supposed to come with? I like the tones so far and like how it does differ than my VH4S biased with El34 Ruby BSTR's. Thanks guys

Peter built his amps for EL34 so to say and they will sound the best and the way he intended them to sound with EL34. I tried 6L6 in the Einstein I used to have. I liked the clean but the dirty sounds lost all the great Diezel trademarks and sound quite weak. Peter recently updated my VH4 to the newest version and also put a set of fresh tubes in. SED Wingeg =C= EL34. They totally rock. Never ever heard better power amp tubes.

I get it, then how come (I think) i read that the Herbert comes with 6l6's and the VH4S also? I changed my Vh4S to EL34's when I got it.

SO i do want my herbert to sound different than the VH4S, for variety. So in my VH4S I have Ruby BSTR's, what would you recommend for EL34's? The same as the Herbie as different circuitry so it's tone wil be different regardless? Thanks man!

I think for some time especially in the US Diezel where shipped with 6L6 but from what I know every amp leaving Peters shop is equipped with SED Winged =C= EL34 since about half a year or a year now.

Regardless which tubes your going to put into the Herbert, it will sound different from the VH4. Both are two totally different animals. As said before I totally recommend the SED EL34. Great sound and from what Peter told me extremely reliable. They aren't cheap but imo well worth it.

Dont get mad man...

Simply put the EL34 SED in the Herbert, and think NO MORE ;).

Herbert sounds completely DIFFERENT from VH4... so dont worry if they both use the same tubes, they wont sound the same.
