I bought a guitar from Sweetwater, it arrived with lots of surface scratches. You know the kind that you have to turn the guitar up to the light to see,the pick scratches the fingernail scratches around the knobs, the kind that only comes from being played.
Called my "personal sales associate today" and told him about the guitar. He offered to send me to someone to talk about getting another guitar sent to me. He also said that there is no way that Schecter could have sent them a used guitar because "our 55 point inspection guys would never let that get by".:rofl::rofl:.
The last 3 guitars I got from them had problems, That the 55 point inspection didn't catch. The guitar is going back and I don't want another.
I was at one point thinking of buying a Diezel cab from them but can you imagine what a PITA that would be to return.
Also, Musicians Friend has recently started the 36 months same as cash so I'm gonna give them a try

I’ve had two new Bogner cabs from them that came blemished, but they were cool as hell and immediately knocked money off as soon as I let them know. Not perfect but I was happy with the service.

Musician’s Friend on the other hand... I’m done.

Man that’s a bummer but if you think you will get better customer service from MF you’re crazy. Sweetwater may not be perfect but they’re one of the best online “mega stores” you can buy from.

I love dealing with MF. I just have a guy I email when I want something and he always gives me a killer price. don't need a sale or a code. I don't have a problem with sweetwater either, though based on the guitar I got once, I don't really think much of their 55 point inspection. I really only buy from them if they have something I can't get from MF.

Man, that sucks. I always hated waiting for something to arrive and then when it does arrive, it's jacked up. I had that happen years ago with amps and it was a nightmare.

I started buying stuff from Musicians Friend in 90' and bought so much gear over the years. Can't remember exactly when but there was a point where everything just seemed to be screwed up when I'd order something. I'd get amps that would stop working after a week, the salesmen would be clueless and rude, etc.

Fast forward down the road and I started ordering from Sweetwater. You get the same salesman, so you build a rapport with them, and they are always putting gear aside for me when it comes in, etc. I'm not saying that I'll never have a problem with anything because I'm sure one day I will, but I just got burned out on MF and the issues. I still like MF though and have nothing against them. I think they are back to what they were before.

That does suck for sure. Sweetwater is known as the best in the business, so I have to say I'm a bit surprised. I have had very good luck with Musicians Friend also.

I am done with MF. the last year has been terrible. Prior to that, the last 15 years were great.

I will state however is that I really NEVER buy a new guitar. Usually just local or reverb dot com.

MF can screw up a string order. How they managed to do that twice, i am unsure.

Gravity Picks are the only thing I get from SWater as they never come close to giving me a decent deal on real money gear like other places. Not sure what magic password I'm missing, but I gave up on them for deals. I don't need the I love you long time phone buddy plan.

"Hey man, just giving a call to see how those picks turned out for ya. Give me a ring back and we'll talk about your rig"

Yep, I get much better deals from the Music Zoo than "my guy" at sweetwater....lol. From my experience, I think their 55 point
inspection is a bunch of lip service too.

On the other hand, I have never had a single problem from Sweetwater and won't go to another online source if they have what I'm needing, which these days isn't too much. They don't carry my preference in guitar or amp brands, so it's usually small purchases, cables, sometimes studio stuff, a random pedal or something.

LOL!!! I'm a big Sweetwater fan and have never had an issue but dude, you just did a spot on imitation of the guy that used to be my salesman. Haha!

Good thing they don't sell Sweetwater underwear. "Hey there pal, how those tighty-whites fittin' round that bulge of yours? As snug as an input jack on a PRS? Excellent, check ya later!!"

Oh and glad to hear Music Zoo is a good place to buy from. I've been stalking there site for years and a few months ago my buddy from work was talking about them so I was looking around the site. They have some great guitars!!

I’ve had issues with music zoo sending some really messed up stuff. I’ve always had good service from sweetwater and ams but mf is a joke. I’m sure others have good experiences but they started screwing up the most basic stuff and I just never went back to them. Good luck

It all depends on who yours sales rep is at Sweetwater. My rep is no-no good . I only buy from Sweetwater if no one else has what I need.

I can’t stand all follow up calls from SW after and in between sales. Jeez, I only bought strings. They work fine.

I use Daddario 9-54 (7string) which everyone carries. Most places are 5.99 - 6.79. Sweetwater charges $9.99

I've not bought a lot through them but I feel the guitar inspection thing is a bit of bs based on my Ibanez I purchased from them. My other experience lately was a special order to which I can advise do it through a real store instead. I know MF, etc. would be worse but I expected more given the personal sales rep and all.

I spent a lot of money with them, but had too many bad experiences with quality control. Their 55 point inspection has to be B.S., I received guitars with flaws that Stevie Wonder would have seen. In addition to that, their deals suck anymore. They knock $50 off a returned guitar with dings/dents/scratches and call it a "demo". I also like when they say "more on the way" for a new item they never stocked. As if to make you think they sold what they had, but never had in the first place. They do ALOT of dishonest, shady marketing, and expect you'll pay more for sales people on commission. Fuck them. And their "Deal Zone" is a joke. It's mostly returned merchandise with blemished that they ask nearly new prices for.

I’ve found their sales staff to be extremely helpful and pretty damn knowledgeable. They make a pretty good burger too :dunno:
