Well, yesterday at work I broke a drill bit and it went into my finger. Can't play guitar at the moment, as putting pressure hurts. I'm a little nervous about nerve damage, but I guess I'll have to wait and see. Hopefully, I will heal fast as I have a show at the end of May. Guess we'll have to see.

Anyway... here's the picture. It looks much better today. The bit went about an 1/4 inch into my finger.

Ouch. You should put some dressing on it and cover it up. It will allow it to heal faster.

Actually, the doctor told me to leave it uncovered at night to let it breath.

Ough......been there and done that with power tools

Keep it clean and yeah clean that sucker out at night.

I severed the digital nerve in my left index finger 2 years ago. The surgen who reconnected the nerve told me the 4 nerves in fingers run along the corners of the finger, if you looked at you finger like a square. So you should be ok, but I'm no doctor. That looks realy painful

You're all girls. I cut a tiny piece of the tip of my pointer on my fretting hand when I was building speaker cabs. I was pushing some wood through the table saw and my hand slipped on the saw dust on the wood. Right into the spinning blade. I bled for 45 minutes. Lost a little piece of the side of the tip. It actually grew back in time but I nerve damage there and it still feels funny.

Here's to a quick recovery

I used to work at a sandwich shop near Philly and ran a small paring knife up through the palm of my left hand, coming out the back between my middle and ring fingers. When I pulled the knife out, blood squirted about 2' in the air :scared: I thought my career (I was playing professionally at the time) might be done. Luckily, all I suffered was tissue/arterial damage...the doc said I went right between the nerves.

I guess everyone's body is different but I totally agree with your doc. Every time I've bandaged up a cut, it takes 2 to 3 times as long to heal. Leave it open and be careful, and it heals up on considerably less time.

Speedy recovery to ya!

I did the same thing a few years back except the bit went right through the finger...INCLUDING THE FINGER NAIL...OUCH!!!  If I tap the end of that finger it still kinda tingles...

Beat the crap out of a guy in a bar fight!! :gethim:

Neosoprin! Man, that stuff works! Hope it heals enough for the show.

Did the same kind of thing working on a motorcycle when I was about 18. I was pushing too hard on a screw driver, it broke, and right through my thumb. Thumb nail still splits and has a huge apex type bump down the middle.

pfffffff-

you guys are soooo soft.

i did this eating a big mac at origami class
