I was screwin around with my Keeley ds1 tryin to make it work for metal turns out the mud killer was the secret sauce while I will suggest getting a mud killer but not so much a ds1 at least for tight metal tones but if you have a ds1 definitely goes pretty damn good together

If it can make a ds1 sound like something other than gross nirvana gain, the mud killer must be amazing

Note to self:

Must acquire mud killer

Note to self part II:

Need to find out what the fuck a mud killer is first .
The electric eye mud killer pedal a sort of tube screamer that you can adjust how much flub you like or tightens up bass

meh, Boss SD-1 works for me when needed. I found a good EQ pedal is all I need for my tube amps, my current fav is my Source Audio EQ2

I’m a big fan of eq pedals . I have a boss 10 band a boss 7 and an empress Para . I’d love to try the source audio

I think you're set with what you have; the EQ2 provides graphic (with adjustable frequency bands) or parametric eq, presets, tuner, noise gate and limiter. I also considered the Boss EQ-200.

The only downside of the EQ2 is not having the physical sliders for each band, takes a few steps to get to the band you want to adjust.

Idont care idont care care..care if isss old

I need to find a way to repair this. It still works fine, but my dog pissed on it and by the time I realized it, everything holding it together was rotted away. I don’t want to rehouse it, that’s a cool fucking serial number (Feb, ‘81)

Norum uses one for boost into his Marshall’s. I have a old one too. First pedal I ever bought.

I didn’t realize it don’t have the faders

So Kirk from Buzzoven told me he used these and an EQ pedal in a stereo rig with a Laney and a DC-5. I really dig their sound.

I have a mark iv and a ds1 so I thought I could do something similar but I couldn't.

My biggest gripe with the DS1 is the output level is pretty low compared to modern high output pickups. So if you're using in front of a clean channel, it suck away all volume as soon as you engage it.

Matter of fact, I've never understood that pedal. It's either too harsh or too quiet to run into a clean channel, or too dirty to run it into a gainy channel, IME.

ive actually never played a DS1 as weird as that is to say, i should just buy one
