What is it ?

I’d need before/after comparisons or an outline of all things changed/improved with a demo showcasing the improvements.

I don’t mind full wet amp showcases but it helps to also either eventually turn them off or dial them way back so the amp’s character is also showcased.

Amp sounds good from what I can hear though 👍

It’s always cool to see unicorn amps like this, but especially for amps this special I would really like to hear an honest dry (no fx) clip with better recording quality. With such heavy fx clouding the sound it makes it much more difficult to tell what really is the core tone of the amp, but having a Rev C and also having tried 4 Rev C’s total so far I’m sure it’s an amazing amp

I don’t think there is a before/after (not a modded amp as far as I’m aware), but I fully agree that amp demoes shouldn’t use any fx if the goal is to actually be an amp demo that is honest

Wait is this the elusive triple rectifier prototype in a dual rectifier chassis? There’s only like 2-3 in existence. I thought he was claiming he created a prototype mod.

Yes, it’s that. Just a very lucky guy to have that amp

Also, I can’t say what it really sounds without trying it or from this demo, but having tried 4 different Rev C Dual’s (one of which serial 16 and 41) none of them to me really sound like an SLO or modded Marshall (and I AB’ed them with my ‘89 SLO and several modded Marshall’s). They just sound like the best Recto’s I’ve heard, which imo is for the better anyway

That’s because the only people who think a recto sounds like an SLO are deaf :)

I can see where others are coming from in that it sounds “closer” (loosely using that word) to an SLO (especially if I load the Rev C’s with 5881’s)’ but when when AB’ed really they don’t overall sound much alike. It’s probably just that they didn’t AB and are biased to think they should similar from being so similar on paper

I guess it`s because earlier Rectos, especially the RevC, resemble more or less the SLO100 in the preamp. It`s the poweramp that differes. That`s probably why people always make the SLO comparison.

Doesn’t mean they sound at all similar, I’m well aware of why they get compared but they are truly not alike…at all. People see this an automatically stop using their ears it seems. But if you are actually listening, you’ll see that they aren’t alike really at all.

There was a thread, way back in 2014/15 about one of these at a Seattle GC. The OP was saying that GC told him it "was a modded dual into a Triple using whatever parts" and it was listed for 899. I laughed at the mess it must've been....the thread went on for a few pages until Steve K chimed in and laughed at everyone in the thread, saying we all missed out on a super rare one...one of a very few proto Triple Rectos that were a C Triple. Mike B took 3 or 4 Cs and got rid of the Rectifier tubes, and used the sockets for the additional 2 power tubes. So, only diode option/no rectifier tube but who the fk cares.
A C Triple. Legit, from the factory. Ugh did we ever miss out on that one.

It was the Guitar Center that was in inner Seattle. It was the only one actually in city limits. It closed years ago. I talked with Steve K a few times about the amp. I also played on the amp. So did my friend Chris. It didn't sound good. If it did I would have bought it.

Probably needed some work.

Any of those 3-4 C Triple protos are a 10K amp. Rarest of the rare. As valuable as a C+ Coli in my estimation.
