Dunlop Rotovibe JH4S vs RWeaver Midnight Vibe

Compared my Rotovibe with my Midnight Vibe. The Rotovibe doesn't have the best bypass signal. Ran the pedal in series. The Midnight Vibe would be a bit brighter and detailed without the Rotovibe in line. I should've put the Rotovibe in a true bypass loop. Regardless, the Midnight Vibe has way more throb and output.

It's a deep, expensive well. The best ones all seem to share some of the warts of the original, like the bypass signal or the way it affects your base tone. Some have too much throb (almost tremolo-ish) and some not enough. They can also be picky about the amp they're plugged into. I've only had a half dozen or so but read up on the forums and the Midnight Vibe is very popular among the vibe enthusiasts. I have the Sabbadius Fillmore and I like it enough to not be searching, it was the flavor of the month a number of years ago.

Saw Tommy Katona with Texas Flood the other night. He was using a Funky Vibe thru an SRV SLO. Sounded fabulous.
Makes me wanna try one, but I know I won't sound as good! Bet he'd sound just fine thru the MV.
I'm going to try a Lovepedal Vibronaut, because why not.

For regular size pedals I’ve tried the JHS Unicorn (sucked), the Drybell Vibe Machine (decent), and the JAM Retrovibe (also decent). But those start to get expensive enough to just get a Midnight or Funky.

Those are for people that just want a regular 9v power (maybe 18v) and not a behemoth on their board.

Read a lot about the Dry Bell. Never wanted one. Jam, otoh, would love to try. If only because the Wahcko is my fav wah out of like 10 I've had. I want a Rippley Falls and Delay Llama. A Pink Flow would be awesome. Talking about big and $$$.

I digress. The size of the MV size can be a pita. But it sure does sound good. Wish it had a bit slower speed available, and wish I had the foot pedal. I believe both are options now.

I had the Dunlop UV-1 with the foot control for many years and when I tried the early Fulltone stuff I wasn't all that impressed. Was good but not better so I just kept using the Dunlop though I had many Fulltone pedals already. Not only was it a rugged well built piece of gear that I drug to many gigs but it sounded great and had quite a bit of throb to the sound if you wanted. I would still prefer it to most of the other vibes out there though the Korg NuVibe and Effectrode tube-vibe both sounded great to my ears. I quit using vibes about 20 years ago though, lol.

Lord, I've been down the Vibe rabbit hole and barely made it out. What I've owned...

Sir Henry - check.
Shin-ei Vibe 2 - check.
Shin-ei Vibe Bro - check.
Fulltone Deja (various) - check.
KR Mega Vibe - check.
Tru Fi Ghost Vibe - check.
Drybell Vibe V2 - check.
Dunlop (various) - check.
Lovepedal Vibronaut - check.
Jam RetroVibe V2 - check.
Klinger 69 Vibe - check.
Roger Mayer Voodoo Vibe+ - check.
MJM Sixties Vibe - check.
Sweet Sound Mojo Vibe - check.
Horrothia Berkeley Vibe - check.
King Tone 1968 - check.
Formula B MkII - check.
Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe (various) - check.

What I currenlty have - King Tone 1968, Formula B MkII and Voodoo Micro Vibe modded by JHS. Actually I'm probably missing something from the list as that was just off the top of my head. Also the modded Micro Vibe has been with me a long time, whatever JHS did it hangs and will not ever go anywhere. Of the above list I wished I had kept in my collection, the Sweet Sound Mojo and Roger Mayer Voodo Vibe+, highly underrated.

If space and power wasn't an issue I'd go the R Weaver. I still may one day just to say I've tried it. However space and power is an issue plus I'm looking for what I want out of a vibe, I'm not trying to recreate Trower or Hendrix. I've been in alot of vibe discussions over at TGP and what I always say, I haven't owned a bad vibe, just ones that work and don't work for me.

Still, that itch is always lurking...uggh.

Yeah! It's like delay. I have a bunch, but want more. Or amps. Or guitars...
I've had a few, not as many as you!
Sweet sound, few Fulltones, Danelectro...
Haven't heard of many from your list. You definitely went all out in your journey! Lol
And now I want to find a Micro Vibe. Thanks

I had those as well as the Fulltone Deja Vibe and the Gypsy vibe.

The Jam Retrovibe was decent as well the Fulltone Deja Vibe. The Drybell was ok.
The Gypsy I got used thru guitar center and honestly I think there may have been something off with it?

The Midnight Vibe is the last one I’d like to try.

Good vibes are to expensive to just leave sitting around unused. Well, at least for me.

I appreciate you listing them out, there was one I couldn’t remember I had until I read your list!

The stock Micro Vibe is actually pretty decent, it stands up well for a cheaper real bulb vibe. I had a stock one for years along with the JHS modded one and the modded one just had more of everything. I finally let the stock one go. I've tried a couple of JHS's vibe variants, they are ok. Didn't like them enough to own them though. No clue what he did to the micro but is sounds fantastic.

Pretty sure Dave Friedman hand a hand in that micro vibe.
No clue. That pedal offering from Voodoo is old. The original didn't have a light on it and was rather noisy. Second run of them had the light and sounded better, still even those have been out since I guess the early 2000's when the vibe craze started hitting again.
