So, I traded my eg-5 for an e-rect with Telefied, who is a stand up dude. A shipping fudge with UPS ended up costing me about $120 at the border, and he offered to split the cost with me (thanks man!)

last friday I got the change to crank the e-rect up at a rehearsal. Man, this kills.. i've owned singles, duals, triples, road kings..

i have this paired with a t/d module. its the best of both worlds, awesome cleans and killer distortions.

one problem i always found with any mesa i had was that soloing never 'felt' right. this is not the case with the e-rect... awesome module, highly recommended!!

totally agree.

I love doing the dropped D with a washed out chorus sound for the whole 90's Deftones/Type O negative thing.

The module also does a killer Amon Amarth rhythm sound, especially with a big bottle power amp like my 2150.

When I got my erect I made a thread with the exact same title, so I fully agree. It's like a rectifier done right
I even like it in channel A with lower gain and split pups for a completely different sound. I love my erect!

I have only had my MOD50 for a week, but I'm already totally blown away by the Erect module. I have used a 2 channel Mesa Dual Rectifier as my main amp since 1999 and the Erect gives me what I want soundwise and even more! I sure wont have any problems replacing the Recto with the MOD50 loaded with the Erect module. I also like the A channel with a low gain setting for a clean/chrunchy sound.

Stop it........you guys will make me spend even more $$.......   :D

Bruce has cursed us all with MAS!!!

E-Rect is great for that Recto flavor. I just find myself enjoying the taste of EG5 and SL2 more. But for the Rectifier thing, it surely cant be beat.

Crazy good module! So full and fat! Fills a room! I traded my EG5 for this and never looked back. I couldn't get along with the tone or gain of the EG5, but this is just insane for so many styles I love it. Leads are nice a thick as well on channel B. I use channel A with gain around noon - 2:00 and then just roll back the guitar's volume for less gainy tones. I use channel B cranked for that singing lead tone.

Just go the EG5 from Casey and plan on testing it tonight. I have a dual rec (some mods) that does that Recto thing for me what I do not have is a SLO type amp I hope the EG5 does that for me. Casey thanks for the words, this trade went well!

Realy is a nice module but much better for rhythm than lead. I am going to try an EQ in the loop to get it better for lead. This will be a good candidate for the E2 so it will always be ready for rhythm. I wish Egnater had a high gain modern module that excelled at rhythm and lead like the SL2 - that thing is great! The MHG was close but lost something in certain band situations. The EG5 was way too thin and 80s for me to be used for anything else.

Trick with EG-5

Bass Boost button on 2.

Turn bass knob back to 11 oclock or so.

the secret. Now it's my fav mod again, even with the SL2 and EG3/4 in the same M4.

Yea guys, I tried that but still no good for me. Still too fuzzy and bright for my tastes. Reminded me of a Soldano too much which I was never a fan. I like the fat, warm Marshall or Bogner thing best. I thought the MHG was worlds better than the EG5, but just lacked something in the cut. If that could be resolved, I would LOVE the MHG. I think the EG5 took the MHG too far in another direction for me.

the e-rect is where its at for a modern percussive tone.. i think the description of the eg5 is misleading.. its not a very "modern" tone at all IMHO

Every module has it's pluses & minus . I hadn't used the EG-5 in a while. Got my new Suhr Modern yesterday and said WTF, let me try with Matt's suggestion but with Bass Boost on 1 and guess what, I'm really staring to like it.

I have a love/hate relationship with the EG5. If I play it by itself, without changing to say the EG3/4 or SL, I really like it. Play thru the SL or similar and then back to EG5 and I'm done--don't like it side by side. I find it very particular about the guitar being played thru it too. Some fiddles just don't work with it. I tend to like a fat tone though and the EG5 is not designed to be like that.
All said and done, It's a great high gainer, just in a class of it's own.

I would love to try the dual channel Erect. I used to have the single channel version but sold it.

I agree, it's not like a tone that's not used now a days, but isn't what i think of when I think of typical modern tone.

I think for high gainer people seem to fall into one of two camps. If you have an eg5 and aren't vibing with it the way you'd like, check out the erect. If you have an erect and it's not exactly what you wanted, then check out the eg5.

Suhr modern! Nice!!

I even run bass boost on 2 with EG5 and then back the bass knob off a little bit. I used to think EG5 was thin until I started setting it up like this. Now I think its way thick, moreso then my E-Rect. Its such a slammin module. YMMV.
