It's the perfect companion to a MOD50*..sits in the series loop, midi switchable and gives you two more dual module slots
* I believe it works with any amp fx loop tho...and is presumably true bypass

I agree, that's what I know too. One question I have is if, for example, you already have stuff in the serial loop of the MOD50, will there be a way to plug the E2 into the MOD50 and still use your loop stuff in a loop of the E2, or something?

The E2 will have a midi switchable loop that will toggle between the E2 modules and the Preamp section of the MOD50.
You would plug your guitar into the E2 then the send loop on the E2 would go to the MOD50 front input. Then out the MOD50 serial loop send back to the return of the E2 then out the E2 to the serial return loop of the MOD50.
The E2 will handle the midi switching so that when a Module is selected on the E2, the MOD50 preamp section is bypassed and vicaversa.
Of course I'm just guessing

Yup.
I just talked to Jeff about this the other day. My MIDI footcontroller's first 4 buttons select channels 1,2,3, and 4 on the two modules but when I hit 5, all the lights go off and there is nothing. This is where the E2 will come in. So you will of course not have one module cascading into another, that would be silly.

But I will just say this. No one has brought more imaginative and inovative ideas to the amp market then Bruce Egnater.
