Hi all,
Has anyone tried the EBTech Line Level Shifter?
Just tried one, but it seems to drain the hell out of the output power dramatically.
Is this normal?

I'm assuming he's using it in his mod50 loop so he can use pedals in the loop.

I've not had much great luck w/ EB LLS's. They've always sucked tone...as well as the hum eliminators. Do make sure you use a LLS on both sides of your pedals. Shift to pedal level...and back up to line level.

Best solution is to use items that are meant to run at line level IMHO. ie. Eventide Time Factor....rack units...etc.

Yea, I have stopped using one because I think Eric is right. In most situation it has a negative impact on the tone.

I use one with the G-System and it works well for that application. Like Eric says, make sure you shift back up to line level going back into the amp. That said, I've tried adding other pedals in the chain and it didn't sound good.

It works wonderfully with my Mod 50. best tones I have had running my pedals in the loop with the Ebtech. No power or signal loss. I run a few instrument level pedals with the Ebtech and it gets the level back to line before hitting the loop return. Best tone I have had, period. Better than racks I have used. I am a pedal guy for life now.

I have three pedals in the loop and I could not believe the three pedals and the Ebtech made so much a difference at reheasal...even the band noticed. I tried plugging straight into the amp and then using the loop and Ebtech and everyone said no difference accept maybe slightly louder using the Ebtech. The punch I had was unreal at rehearsal so I would say I see no ill effects! :D

PM me if you need help. You can call me too and I can walk you through it. In fact, I think my tone is louder and more powerful with it.....like a slight boost or something! Sold all my rack gear, etc. I even got rid of my Damage Control Nexus which is line level. The Ebtech rules for my rig.

I use one with my Mod 50 and it works very well. I use it with 3 BOSS effect, 1 Fulltone amd a Modtone on my board and no issues. It is great and it saved my ass.

YEP, LOVE IT!

I have used the EBTech LLS for a variety of projects and they have worked brilliantly in all my applications! The unmentioned (at least I didn't notice it here) feature of these boxes is that in addition to shifting the level up or down (or both simultaneously), you get get an automatic ground-lift function because the input and output are electrically isolated (plastic jacks with no chassis common connection + Line matching transformers). Totally passive, no power required.

These little guys are GREAT problems solvers! I can personally highly recommend them (if you need them)! I wouldn't use them on anything that is not a line-level device (which is what they are designed for). Instrument level is too low and too high an impedance (which is why they suck tone at normal pedal/pickup levels for which they are NOT designed).
