I know this is super anal....but does anyone else's Excursion A or B switches NOT line up properly with the front panel? My Excursion A switch leans more to the right on the panel rather than right in the middle....so if I'm in "L" position, it's not centered and closer to the "T" side. Just bugs me!!

I've had that on 4 or my 6 xtcs in some variation of what you are referring too.

I have a 20th XTC...

My excursion switches line up, however my pre-eq's are off just a hair.

What can you do

Well good, glad to hear it's probably normal. Those switches are just soldered to the board. Oh well, my current Ecstasy is the best sounding one I've ever owned, and I've had probably 6 myself since 1995!

Your sig and avatar don't match...

Also, mine line up fine.

Damn avatars haven't been working for awhile now.

Glad to hear the new xtc is working out for you. Im on the fence on trading/selling my 20th Shiva to get another... its a hard decision.

...why does that flame look like it's giving me the finger!?!? That's a rude fire!

Bryan, how do you find the XTC compares to the SLO? You seemed to be a dyed in the wool Soldano guy for the longest time.

Yeah, I've been a Soldano guy for a while now! The SLO is an awesome amp and tone, but it's also a limited and finicky mistress that is highly dependant on tube choices and speaker cabs!! I'm 43 years old and I've gotten to the point that if something is not working for me 90% of the time, it's gone! I've been playing Bogners since 1995 and the tone and features are burned into my brain....it's been Soldano and Bogner for years for me.

The main differences IMO are the "mids" and feel. The Ecstasy has a more janglely tone with lower mids and growl, where the SLO has more upper mids and is more "tight" feeling or more punchyness. The SLO is like a muscle car where the Ecstasy is like a loaded BMW or Mercedes.

For what I've been doing lately, the XTC's options and tones are working out better for me than the SLO. The SLO really needs to be cranked up and the FX loop is not as friendly as the XTC's loop, which is also turned off/on by the footswitch. I also recently bought a new Uberschall Rev/Blue that I've been loving as well. Runnig it thru my Soldano 4x12 and it sounds great!

Hope that helps!
Bryan

Awesome man, I bought my Ecstasy when I was 17 and haven't looked back... we're getting to the year and a half mark soon and I don't think it's going anywhere! :)
