Got a line on both at very good prices. I think I know the answer. Initially I set out to replace the Uber that I sold a couple years ago and have kicked myself in the ass ever since :doh: , but the clips of the Ecstasy are just too good. And, the deal is too good to pass up for either amp :confused:

Yeah, I am laying off the assault for a while. Besides, I still have the Herbie for blowing up skirts. :D

The 20th XTC is really, really incredible. All 3 channels are great and the amp has some boutique capacitors that take the tone over the top...very fluid and organic...smooth like past XTC's, but it has some grit, too (from the high mids) and can get more aggressive than say a 101b which was a bit too smooth for me. The Twin Jet is not as well rounded (well, not many amps are), but packs more wallop and is a little more modern. The 20th XTC does modern better than past XTC's though, but it falls just short of the deep sub-bass and midrange raunch of the Twin Jet.

Went with the Ecstasy 101B - it was just too good to pass up :rock:

Seeing as I read you had a Herbert, this was a 'no contest' question to answer. The XTC for sure. Now you've got both ends of the spectrum covered.

Woulda been ACES had it been the 20thA. STILL salivating every time I plug in to 'er.

Hope you love your soon-to-be new XTC.

What's the 4x12 speaker of choice for the Ecstasy? I have quite an assortment to mess around and experiment with. I am thing an H30 x V30 cross or maybe just straight 55 Hz Greenbacks or Scums.

Smooth = Greenbacks
Gritty = V30

Love the G12Ms with my 101b! They get a bit too distorted at higher volumes though. V30s were okay too, but IMO there are better choices. In a week or so I will hopefully be done speaker swapping with 4 65w Scumbacks: two M75s & two M55s!

I was thinking myself that would be a good combination. The M55's will handle a good bottom end and a creamy top end, and the M75's can spit the nails and handle the upper mids. The last cab I got from Senor Scum has H55's and H75's and should do the trick.
