Eddie Van Halen - I'm the one (Isolated guitar) FULL SONG

two two musical things i alway hear in his playing is innate sense of time, having practiced to an amazing metronome every day—his brother—

and how his fills and solos are so perfectly symmetrical and melodically complete because of his dad’s clarinet influence.

That choke sounds awesome
I’m still losing quite a bit of sleep wondering if I should get my Plexi Jose modded or not? At least my wife is going to buy me a variac for Xmas this year. Always wanted one

If someone posted this they would be dragged for it being 'thin', 'tinny' and 'buzzy'. Dial those 'depth' and bass knobs down boys.
In a mix you’re absolutely correct.
These days I’m playing Madison Square Livingroom exclusively, so I like my depth and bass knots very much.

I'm currently finishing off Alex's book "Brothers". He mentions "swing" so much it's crazy. Their dad considered that swing as gospel for getting the crowd hot and thirsty. And when the crowd was thirsty, they drank. That's why they were so successful in clubs at the beginning.

So many other songs have that swing vibe. Very much their style and sounds so good.

If you can get that swing down, you’re a good rhythm player with good right hand control.

Trying to record a cover of that opening riff is a great way to practice that style. Listen back. Keep re-recording it until it actually sounds like the recording and doesn’t suck.

It really boogies, when lil Ed got in trouble his mom whacked him with the boogie broom, hence the ear cannot miss the boogie broom influence

when i first started learning this song and to a lesser extent hot for teacher, i always flashed back to my parents listening to this tune due to the cadence of the rhythm

That's my favorite VH song (other than of course the leadwork 😄), but that tone never did anything for me

honestly, this forum has made it impossible for me to enjoy van halen anymore :dunno: i cant listen without thinking about things like what would RT'ers pay for a shit stained pair of Eddies underwear theyd sniff and put on while butchering "aint talking bout love" in their living room among many other disturbing scenarios id rather not envision. kind of a bummer really
