can anybody explain in simple terms how to use my g mojor through my vh4 ? as in were i plug what ? cheers im really having problems getting me head round it

Send (VH4) to in (left mono on G major) and Left Out (G major) to Return (VH4). Think of it as sending a preamp signal to the FX unit and returning the processed signal back to the amp. But, you have choices....

Send 2 gives you the option of switching the unit out of the circuit. Send 1 you cannot switch out. Use either, depending on your goals.

Return gives you some options which will affect your tone and all the A/D/A conversion that goes on with multi-FX units. The parallel return will let you use the mix volume control on the front of the amp to determine how much of the wet signal is blended with the dry signal and will at least let you retain some of the $4500 unprocessed Diezel growl. The serial return is all converted A/D/A and will definitely make a noticed change in the overall tone.

Depends on what you are after.

star thanks so much

Definitely play with both loops. I ended up using the serial loop for my multi effects mainly because the delay sounded sooo much better there. I use a Damage Control Glss Nexus and to me it does not seem to hurt my tone too much. But my ears are fried so use your own judgement.. :aww: I could really never seem to get the parrallel loop to sound that great..imo. Some effects worked good and some bad, the best compromise was the serial loop...
And do not forget to try the channel inserts on the Vh4, pretty handy if you have an effect you only use on one channel. Like a delay on channel 4 for leads, it keeps the efffect out of your signal path until you activate the channel insert via midi or you manually change it, very cool indeed!!!
Some guys will freak out about using the serial loop because it is in your siganl path and does affect your tone like Steve mentioned. But for me, at a live gig in a bar, it just does not seem to matter much.
The soundguys are gonna mess with my sound more than any effects unit ever will. :gethim: dam soundguys!! haha!
Later.

the parallel loop or the channel inserts are the best way to go for minimal signal loss.

Hey SMDB

I have been GASing for that Glass nexus for a few years now, its hard to find and few reviews exist. please give me your take on it as it might wind up being the only effects device I use, though its been hard fro me to buy it without playing it.

The Glass Nexus is pretty dam cool. To me. It does not seem to hurt my tone too much running it in the serial loop. But like I said "my ears are a bit fried"
I use velcro and stick it to the bottom of my rack that sits on top of the amp to keep the cable short to the loop.
The effects seem good to me, it is not as adjustable as the tc or most other multi effects (there are not many parameters to mess with) which is kind of a blessing for me, I always lost my patience in the past messing with all of the settings on multi effects. way too much for me!!
But it really seems to do the job for me. with the limited settings. If you don't use midi it is very limited, only 8 presets without midi. But I use midi for the Vh4 and it works great! Tons of presets with midi control!! everything switches with one midi change.
Plenty of effects to choose from and the quality seems great imo... I use it mostly for playing live gigs at local clubs so I am not too ate up with getting Eventide quality
from this unit.
I definitely recommend it. I bought it without hearing it, kinda scary doing that but musicians friend will give you 30 days to return it so it is not much of a gamble really.
I have used it for 2 years or so now with no problems!! It will probably break at tonights gig now that I said that.
Get one!!!
