EG5 Dual Channel- B compared to A?

So I landed a dual eggie eg5, but I only have Randall right now! I'm digging chA, what is B like in comparison? Similar but even more gain? A has loads of saturation....are they identical?

I had a single eg5 before, but I'm enjoying this one more- maybe it's the tubes in there- I see a JJ in v2, and I don't know what's in v1 no markings, maybe something NOS? Whatever it is, I like it, time to grab a bunch of new ax7s and go to town on my other mods!

In a related matter, i have 3 choices
dual upgrade my otherwise perfect rm100kh
dual upgrade a moderately worn rm100
sell the rm100, buy a mod50

and choice 4, wallow in indecision!

I like the EG5 alot. It is becoming more and more my go to hard rock module. I keep the gain down at about 9:00 - 10:00 on channel A. Channel B has more gain but sound very similiar.

I'd upgrade that RM100KH....sell the moderately worn RM100 and buy a Mod50 :)

But that's me!! I'd try a Chinese or TungSol 12ax7 in V1 of the EG5 and any good toobe in V2 (I personally use a TS 12ax7 there too).

I've been very pleased with that tone with those toobs!

Channel B is a little more gainy and has a bit more compression; it's a little smoother.

I have my EG5 set up to complement my SL. It helps, as many others like aeroic and EWSEthan have stated, to utilize the bass boost on 1 or 2 and drop the bass eq knob to taste.

I spend most of my time on this module and the SL -- guess those are my favorites.

Channel B has a slight bit more gain, though A and B have more than enough for anybody. Channel B seems more saturated and a little smoother. The way I run my module, Channel A is probably the heaviest tone I have. It has a drier feel to it and works well for the heavier stuff. Both channels kill.

what everybody else said.

CH A = less gain, more open, less compression. = Rhythm

CH B = more gain, smoother, more compression = Lead

perfect

Channel B is an amazing lead sound. Not that you can't use it for rhythm, but the first time I plugged in I thought I was Nigel Tufnel going "the sustain man, the sustain..."

Can you dial your KH to match your RM100? I was told the KH is tweeked with the Transformer to match more of a mesa sound and that everything else is the same and I could dial it to the RM100.

I have been using my EG5 beside the XTC and have it kinda close. Been using it for Alice In Chains..Man in the box. Still tweaking it but Ch B seems to be closer.

rm100 is in the shop- blew an internal fuse(s)? So that lead me to the rm100KH, but I never had them next to each other, so when I get it back, I'll let you know.
