Had a quick play..another killer mod, reminds me more of the Randall Modern than an Ultra/UXL but less compression and the voicing is shifted .. definately more bite/cut available in the Treble end of the spectrum and higher mids is what I'm hearing...not flubbing out when I go bass heavy either (but I recently put 5881s in my amp...so not really surprising)

I assume it's an evolution of the MHG module...since this is what I kind of imagined the MHG sounded like...lolz.

I have to change the Sovteks though...am sure this module could sound even better with different tubes :D

I went through a bunch of different tubes in the M4 rig lately, and on my EG5 I settled on a Chinese 8th Gen 12ax7a in V1 and a Ruby 12ax7a in V2. If I used 2 of the "thetubestore.com" 12ax7a's, the module had to much hiss and gain for me, so using a 12ax7a from TTS.com in V1 and a Ruby in V2 helped tame it down and keep the noise floor much lower. It really has more growl w/ using those tubes for me. I know others are using EH 12ax7s and Tungsol 12ax7's, but I wanted the EG5 mainly for rhythm uses. I use the EH 12ax7 and a chinese 12ax7a in my SL2, where the EH smooths it out a bit and makes it a bit more squishy. With the tubes I am using in the EG5, it is not mushy in the mids at all, which is good for me as I am doing a lot of heavy riffage with it.

YMMV,
Eric
