Hey folks-

I'm a noob on the Egnater site and am trying to find out more about this module. About all I can gather from the posts is that it's a bright sounding, high gain module. I can't find it on the Egnater website either.

Can it do cleans or medium gain tones as well? Is it more of a modern rock (Soldano) sound? Any info would be appreciated.

It's a module with tones similar to that of a Soldano SLO100, but beefier, thicker, and punchier IMHO. ChA of it can do some medium gain stuff pretty well. It can clean up w/ the use of your guitar's volume knob rather well, but it's not a "Fender Twin" type of clean or any thing. ChB is pretty gained out, and sounds amazing. Check out my clips in the clip collective of the EG5. It's bright, but not icepicky or ear piercing bright. Just has a good presence to it. One of my favorite modules by far!

Yeah, I checked out the clips, but didn't see any EG5 only clips....they were always mized with something else....

How does it compare to the Erect module? They sound similar. Can it get those thunderous Rectifier subterranean lows?

When I was deciding between EG5 and SL2, I went back and
looked at old posts and found some recordings from "bstaley"
using the EG5. I would look for those and also look in the clip collective for other great clips.

EG5 has tight bass but can also thicken up nicely too. I, too, would liken it an SLO-ish tone.

Great module!!

How's it different from the MHG module? I've heard this is similar to an SLO as well, so I'm curious how they compare.

i found the eg5 very loose on bass (using with a mesa 4x12)

i traded for the erect, and love it.

The EG5 sounds like nothing else in the Egnater line and is my favorite module (SL2 is a close second). It has a very full and beauitiful distortion with plenty of highs, lows and mids.....To my ears, the EG5 sounds much better than an SLO.

Personally, the EG5 reminds me of the first Lynch Mob record, but can do so much more. Jeff & Bruce really hit it out of the park with this one!

I got to play the EG5 prototype through a Mod 50 when it had an X on the front panel.

It was like July '07.

It was a life changing experience. I didn't think an amp could sound that perfect.

I knew I would own one at some point.

EWSEthan calls the EG5 "a beast" quite often. I agree. hahaha

I think it's very SLO like, in the way that it has lots of thick high gain, but alot of detail and presence at the same time.
