Hi guys ... new to the forum... didnt know if there was an actual egnater forum but here goes ....

So after all my searching and research I have it narrowed down to 2 choices of amps i want .. wondering other users thoughts on this....

My choices are EGANTER RENEGADE 1x12 COMBO or HOT ROD DELUXE. I have the REBEL 20 head right now through a Marshall 2x12 (mc212) cab. It seems loud but haven't tried it in a band environment. The cleans are awesome and i get great EDGE, delayed Clean tones. I play rock music, not heavy but mostly clean and gained but not alto of distortion. the Rebel has different tubes so i have heard the cleans aren't as good in the rengade. I haven't played the renegade with its 65 watts, but all I really need is a nice loud rich clean tone, I have the nova system for everything else I do as far as effects. I want a combo for easier travel.

My question is ... Would it not sound as good going from the 2x12 Marshall to a 1x12 renegade or rebel 30, I am wondering the sound difference if i will even notice it? The prices for Egnater are just high compared to fender so im not really sure yet. I love the rebel 20 just afraid it wont be loud enough for a band through the 2x12.. the tone i get is awesome though .. I hear the Renegage and the Rebel 30 or voice different or have different tubes?

I have heard the rebel 30 combo would have minimal difference in loudness compared to a 20 through a 2x12 so i figured i'd pass on the rebel 30 combo. correct me if am wrong.

I love egnater and would like to stay with that company ... I wish they just made a rebel 20 with 40 watts or something .. haha.. What do you guys think keep what i have an invest in something else or go for the renegade combo. trying to find a place in Rochester, NY that carries the combo.

A couple of thoughts:

Try the Rebel 20 with the Marshall cab in a band practice first and then see what you think.

I had the Fender for a long time and I liked it. I don't think anything else quite gets that Fender clean, so if that is what is most important you might want to go with that. Fender overdrives don't cut it compared to Egnater.

However, these days I have to have an amp with front mounted controls like the 1 X 12 Renegade. I don't know if I could handle the top mounted controls like the Fender has.

I'll keep my answer short and simple. I think the Rebel 30 2X12 combo would suit you very well. All the sounds and more that the 20 has, 2X12's that you are used to.

I play a Rebel 20 through an old Marshall 4x12 and it is plenty loud enough - playing loud rock with a LOUD drummer. Have had to turn volume down at gigs too!

The speakers definitely make a big difference to the sound produced and of course the more speakers, the more air movement...

UN

I'll agree with UN here and add also this. I had a 20. I now have a 30. They are in fact the same power section so essentially the same amp, the 30 having two channels instead of one. The 30 is quite a bit louder than the 20 IMO. Must be the preamp section is pumped up a little more, but it is quite loud. I gigged it one time and I found no real volume issue, it kept up with my MOD50 at the same venue in previous gigs.

I had a Hot Rod Deluxe and sold it for the Rebel 20. My Hot Rod Deluxe was a piece of poorly made junk that spent lots of time in the shop for many different problems. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of anything in Fenders Hot Rod Series. Most of the problems stem from the Fenders use of single sided boards and cheap components. Some of the problems are heat related. Mine kept developing cold solder joints on the tube sockets, bad 5 watt power resistors, a blown power supply cap, and a bad bias adjustment pot that would drift the bias from stone cold to red plating intermittently. All this fun in less than a year. The Rebel 20 cuts a mix way better than my HRDlx ever did. Remember, 40 watts isn't twice as loud as 20 watts. Move more air and you'll get more perceived loudness.

The renegade which I own is my fav-112 has front controls, not to heavy portable-add a ext cab for bigger gigs
