Great tone man  I just love those speakers. By far the best speakers I've ever had. Worth every penny.

Too dark for me but Egnater stuff is dark as well as the Scumback 65's.

not all eggie modules are dark. Remeber I do have the treble at 10 o'clock. I was going for a dark tone. The x mod to the eg34 really adds more bite and upper mids. All the stock modules are typically darker but the x mod on most of them fixes the darkness of it. I don't find the 65s that dark either. May not have the upper mids of a v30 but they do have a really nice clear top end.

As far as this Tone. I was trying to get close to a j bonamassa type tone. Hence the dark flAvor.

Aeroic dials things in really dark and probably uses a pick with a dark sounding attack etc... I use Egnater stuff too and his clips sound pretty different from what I hear.

Different strokes and whatnot.

I'm certainly not saying anything is wrong with it, just that Egnater stuff is dark, spent a lot of time with the MOD50 and different modules, as well as the Scumback 65's. Let's just say darker than I prefer.

I do agree that a lot of the egnater stuff is dark stock. The SL2, EG34, SL that to me are a bit too dark stock. That was a big complaint of mine, which is what helped push Jeff to do some of the X mod work. With my personal modules, we have changed out some of the stock caps to orange drop caps, and that really helped make the tone a bit bigger, and have a bit more top end clarity and such. Secondly, the X mod on my EG34X really does have a lot of top end. I don't have either bright switch on, and it does get a lot brighter than any stock Egnater module.

But...I do see your point...and agree with you. The Scumbacks have a bit "muted" top end....less than a T75...or a K100...but not as much as a V30 or a Jensen...JBL..etc.

Most of the time...I don't run a rig this dark. I like smooth and buttery sometimes...but I also like a ripping grindy tone too. I was really trying to capture some of the tonality that Joe gets live. Secondly, the mic was off to the side of the cabinet too, which was getting a bit more low end...which was making it sound a bit darker than live in the room. I need to make sure it's right in front of the cab...do remove the directionality of the 412 cab.
