So my band played a local low-key gig this weekend at a small bar in town. Our drummer is friends with the owner and he's looking to start doing bands at the bar so we figured itd be a fun little gig. The conditions were less than stellar (No real PA, no monitors, only 1 mic) but we decided to just go with it. Our singer ended up singing through the guy's DJ speakers! Nothing mic'ed. Eggie on 2 oclock with TD and EG5 modules through my new matching 1x12 with a Classic Lead 80. I played my Suhr Standard all night. It was a blast and crowd loved us! We played a 90 minute set and they then demanded we play 2 encores. Its amazing how the small, seemingly throw away gigs end up being some of the best. We were really on our game on Sat night thats for sure. And for a tiny crowd they made alot of noise with us!

We got numerous compliments on our tone. Someone actually told me that my tone was "absolutely ridiculous good" :D That is a direct quote. The other guitarist who plays a Shiva used to edge me out in the mix when I had MHG, but now with EG5 we're pretty even, though we think I may now edge him out a tad! The 1x12 cab really mates well with this head as well. For me, it seems like the perfect gigging cab for small to medium-small venues. Its lightweight, LOUD, and has the bass response you need. Amazing for a 1x12.

Thanks for reading. Im riding a real high now and had to share. When you play a show that couldnt have gone any better, its an amazing feeling!

My Timefactor looks nice there

You mean MY Timefactor now! :D Dude thanks for the hook-up on that bad boy. Totally worth every penny and you could have ripped me off for it since they are so scarce and were going on ebay for like $600. You're a real class act. Much appreciated.

you should position the 2 guitar amps to the outer edges of the stage, so you would less compete around the same space. Means put the bass next to the drums and the Shiva next to the bass.

I own a Shiva and think about getting an Eggie. How do the two complement?

He likes to put his amp behind him to make sure he can actually hear guitars hes singing over. We've found that sadly, soundmen cannot be trusted. And when you dont get enough guitar in your monitors you have no idea if youre singing in key or not. So, at the very least, he has a little of his own guitar coming behind him. For this particular gig it was actually even more important because there was no soundman and we were just cranking. So, he needed to make sure he heard enough of his amp.

Even still, we dont find the tones to be competing. With the modules I generally use, we've got similar tones so we're presenting a pretty cohesive sound. The Shiva has a GREAT extremely rich Twin-like clean sound. I might even like it more than my TD module. For overdrive, the closest Eggie module is the SL2. I was inclined to say EG3/4 because its darker and his Shiva (without the bright switches - older model) is pretty dark, but EG3/4 is just too smooth and the Shiva definitely has a real bark to it. I tend to use EG5 these days, which is brighter, slightly more aggressive, and has more gain on tap than the Shiva (though I keep the gain at noon). Its an SLO-vibe, but without the out of control high end and better bass response. The Shiva is ungodly loud and I perfonally find the overdrive a little fizzy until you open it up. At this gig it sounded outrageous because like I said, we were cranking, but for lower volumes, the MOD 50 is the better amp. Also, the Shiva FX loop is a nightmare. You need all kinds of special cable and stuff. The MOD 50s works great. It loves my Timefactor. :D

But really, between Shiva and MOD 50, its like choosing between a Ferarri and a Lamborghini. You cant really lose. However, my bandmate has said before that while hes not looking to change amps, if he were to do it again, he would get the MOD 50 with Bassman and SL2 modules. Jarrett can probably comment on this too as he used to own a Shiva I think.

Dude, you are rockin' with the Eggie! Love it!!

Hey man, is that your 112 cab? That thing is huge if so!!

Yeah tell me about the FX loop. Bogner "improved" it for the newer version (which I own) so you can run pedals in the loop, but it kills the tone (brings overall level of the amp down, removes that "cranked" feel of the circuit).

However, since I am using rack FX (line level), it's great, no issues whatsoever and killer sounds. Your Eventide can run on instrument or line level, which are you using with the Eggie?

Eggie loop is Line level. I never run delay out front.
