hey guys,

do you guys find that the egnater 1x12 is loud enough in a stage environment?

I've been using a mesa 4x12 for years now, and thinking with a baby coming, I'll need to be a little more quiet when I play, but still need power when I gig out.

i plan on running the mod50 into a palmer to go direct anyway, but its stage volume i'm concerned about.

thanks!

I guess it all depends on what size of venue you are playing in. Cone area is cone area. Regardless of how "big" it sounds, it's still only one CL80 driver. Technically, you would need four of these to achieve the same cone area as a 4x12. Now since the 1x12 is a tuned ported enclosure, it's going to be more efficient at certain frequencies. So this would make the single driver louder than most single drivers but only at a certain frequency range. To my ears, it appears that the cabinet is tuned for more bottom end but I have yet to plug in the CL80 specs into TermPro and view the curve with the specs of the cabinet (I plan on doing it this weekend).

So with that said, if you mic one of these, it should sound as big as a 2x12 or even a 4x12 cabinet but it will never have the output of a 4x12 with the same given power. But don't under estimate this pudgy guy. Connected to the MOD50, this thing is loud!
