I just took my Morris head over to my tech's house to try some of his cabs.

I am amazed at the sound of his Egnater 2x12. I can't vouch for the Elite 80's (his had a pair of V30's).

Other cabs I tried were a VHT Fatbottom 2x12, Marshall 1960 w/Greenbacks, Orange 2x12, and my Avatar Contemporary 2x12 w/V30 & Greenback.

The Egnater wins hands down IMO for beef while remaining extremely clear. I have to get one of these !
Price is right too

I like the sound of mine with the sealed back at high volumes. Mine has Elite 80's. At low volumes it sounds a bit muffled. I'm going to try open back for low volumes and see. Otherwise, the blame is going to the speakers and I'm switching them to V30's.

I agree with you! Great cab! Im just OCD and want my cabs to match my heads.

So...you should buy mine at a great price! ;)

Haha Matt! That happens to me too. They HAVE to match. Not just color-wise.

Yep, best 212 I have ever owned and better than the Bogner 212 I used to have.

I could care less if a cab matches because that would be maddening always swapping cabs any time you get a new amap. I saw find a great cab that works with various heads and be done with it! I think it looks cool when you have a non matching rig. I have friends who only have their older Marshall 1960 cabs and they have various head new and old....but they swear by those cabs. I could care less if the head is green or blue and the cab is white and beige. Only the sound matters. ;)

This 212 just sounds huge. I am a huge fan of partially open back cabs these dyas and have that on all my cabs. I think the Egnater sounds tons better with the center back strip remove. I am also in love with the Elite 80s, so warm and smooth, yet thick and tight. Great choice, Bruce. Can't say enough good things. Never liked V30s - too ice picky. Elite 80s are very beefy but do all styles easily. VERY clear sounding cabinet.

So it beat out all of those cabs? Wow...even the Marshall and VHT? I was looking to eventually get an Avatar 212 as well but might just have to get a Mojo Egnater 112.

I picked up a used one several weeks ago and love it. I run my BB pushed Rebel 20 thru it and it sounds amazing. The sound is so huge that I realize I have been missing out playing thru my 112. Sounds good at low volumes and even better cranked. The Elite 80's are very versatile and sound amazing.

I had my TM212 at a jam last Friday night and compared to a Bogner and Mesa, not to mention a Marshall. I preferred the TM212, it is that good man. I can see why they stopped making the USA version, they are esentially the same.

I dont doubt that the TM cab sounds great, but I dont buy that its as good as the USA one. And that not just because I am selling one right now and/or because Im a cork sniffer. I find it hard to believe that a mass produced cab is using the same quality wood and construction as one with selected birch assembled by hand in the USA. Again, Im not saying the TM sucks, or isnt good, or isnt even amazing. Im just saying I dont think its "essentially the same" as the USA one.

I think the real reason Egnater stopped making them is because there is practically no margin on USA made cabs.

Having owned a Mojo 1x12 and a TM212 and 4x12...I definitely see a better workmanship coming from the Mojo plant. The tolex is done better, the workmanship is a bit higher. Having said that, the tone from the TM212 and 412 is really good, as well as is my Mojo1x12. For me, I think the overall workmanship is better on the Mojo cabs, which will relate to better tone for sure. Are we talking 50% improvement...no....Probably 5-10%.

Eric

I highly doubt there's a tone improvement from the USA Vs TM cabs. It's a guitar cab, not rocket science. Now I'm sure the tolex is better on the Mojo made cabs.

I have a AC30CC that's supposed to be a POS. With a few mods and tweaks it sounds as good as my friends 64 AC30. The cork sniffers might tell you otherwise but I know better. Would I rather have a 64 AC30? Damn straight I would, it's been my dream amp for years.

My TM212 is tight and the tolex is fine. Seems perefect to me. :)

The workmanship was great on the Ear Candy. How'd that turn out for ya?

Anyway, that is why I tell many people to look into Avatar cabs when in the hunt for something new. I had a chance to hear an Avatar 212 next to an oversized Bogner 212 and preferred the Avatar. You can't beat Dave's prices for that kind of quality.

I know this is an old thread, but I have to laugh when people say the hand made will sound better. Some say 5-10%! Ya really think you will hear that slight difference in a band setting? Nope
Similar reason why I stopped buying boutique pickups and instead now run all stock.

Sure I would prefer to buy the American made can but I can tell you the TM212 is equal to any cab I have played.

I have learned a lot in recent years and try to gfor bang for the buck rather than a boutique amp or cab or pickups, etc. Practice mire, play more, write more. Those things matter, not the 5-10% improvement from boutique gear.

I know I have a 20th anniversary Bogner, but was at a different place in life when I bought that and am not about to lose my shirt selling it.

Anything I buy going forward will be the basics, Marshall, Mesa, Frnder, Gibson, etc.
Older and wiser.

For me you got to look at it more on a item by item basis.

For the millionth time on the record: the Egnater TM 2x12 IS awesome!

they mix well with v30's.
dont write off the elite 80's altogether...mix them. they sound incredible.

esp with another 2x12 that has v30s..or even x them.
