Well, after the run around from a few different "authorized" repair outfits, and way too much in invested capital in shotty repair work, it has become acutely and painfully obvious that owning an Egnater design no longer has any value; for if and when you need to have service done, you are simply screwed. I for one am done throwing money at a problem that could have, AND SHOULD HAVE, been managed with ease. Instead, I merely see the type of "big business" mentality that makes any and every crap product what it is: crap. Too bad this Tourmaster 4100 is so large and heavy, as it simply will not fit down my commode.

Buy a Mod 50 and never look back! All kidding aside, Bruce and the guys at Egnater are really great. I'm sure if you call or email them they will help you and get your amp in tip top shape. info@egnater.com. or 1 248 541-9100. I susally email because that is where I get the fastest response. Sorry for your troubles, I have had great service with my Mod 50, and will buy another Egnater amp soon.

What was the problem and why didn't the warranty cover it?

I don't quite understand this either. What is the point of coming in to an Egnater forum- full of Egnater fans- and saying they are crappy amps?

What is the problem? People here might be able to help.

I will admit that Egnater is a small company that probably could use to improve its repair network a bit. Still the one or two minor issues that I have had with my Tourmaster with handled to my satisfaction.

Still, if you don't like the thing, what is the point of badmouthing it? Just get rid of it and get something you like.

Nothing like your first post being an Egnater "vomit"...

I've only been using Egnater designs for over a decade. I think I know of what I speak. End of discussion, you bunch of over-sensitive whinners. I will be bailing off some old MICA heads, as well; as it is senseless to hold gear that no longer warrants any attention from Bruce or any qualified repair from so-called "certified" shops.

And why post: to warn other would-be buyers to go with Mike at Soldano or Steve and his new line at VHT: they still take care of their creations.

What's the matter, critical analysis a bit too much for ya? I suppose you all buy that god over the cloud top argument, too; and how letting oil men run a war makes good sense. Please. The fact is: Bruce no longer has the time to provide the concern and support necessary to maintain the line. And because the line isn't grossing the dollars the big boys do, those down the service chain are much less inclined to really have a thorough clue. Geez, I could just see those secondary techs dump a pile in their pants having to work on a MIDI head like these old MICA's I own.

Dude, the only one whinning is you...the rest of us are too busy enjoying the toneful goodness of our Egnater creations :D

Happy New Year!

Did you ever call Egnater or send them a email? You may just be dealing with a lame repair guy. I'm sure Egnater will take care of you. Take a deep breath and try to call the Shop 323-277-4119. I know how bad it sucks when your gear doesn't work. I'd be pissed too.

If the authorized repair guy isn't holding up his end of the deal let Egnater know.

Uh, you still haven't told us what was wrong with your Tourmaster AND why it wasn't covered under warranty.

Anyway, thanks for the heads up and good luck in the future. I'm sure Mike Soldano or Steve Fryette will be thrilled to have you as a customer.

You want to be a little careful here. One of my minor problems- a faulty tube as it turned out- got Bruce's attention on this forum.

What does liking Egnater amps have to do with the war? I am not a supporter of the current wars; Never was.

I find your comments to have a lot of criticism, and little analysis. I can tell you specifically what I like about the Tourmaster (Price, tone, flexibility, features, build quality) and what I don't (weight, needs a quieter line out for recording, maybe two independent effetcs sends). What is the problem that everyone should avoid?

Why not go into forums for the other products and say positive things about those, rather than come in here and bash these? You would achieve the same goal on a more positive note.

I learned long ago that whenever I had an equipment problem I should go right to the company BEFORE going to the local guys, who can vary. I usually can get it resolved that way.

Hey Deno,
I have no problem with someone criticizing me or our gear. That is how we improve. What the heck happened to make you so angry? I am the first to admit we are growing a lot faster than I ever expected and stuff is going to go wrong. I would hope most issues could be resolved in a calm and logical manner. You know we always do as much as I can to please everyone all of the time but.....alas that is not realistic. Please email me and explain what happened, if you wish.

Thanks
Bruce

From the horses mouth
Ill give ya 100.00 for your MICAs since Egnaters are such shit!!!

There right from the man himself. not a tech or service rep, the creator/owner and whatever else you want to call him. I am serious to see if you know have the guts to follow up your problem with Bruce or if your guilt will prevent you.

Anyway as angry as you are, I do hope you get your problem fixed, and remember Questions get answers, stirring the pot just makes you look bad, thats all.

Good luck

I would also like to know what your problem was(with the amp itself).

The guy sounds like he is more interested in stirring up conflict and getting attention then in solving problems. I am willing to bet he did something to the amp himself which he tried to rectify. Very few companies will fix that under warranty.

Also, many companies eventually stop supporting older pieces of equipment or software. They can't be expected to do everything. If you are carrying something ten years old, some companies will try to do what they can- I bet Egnater would- But you can reasonably expect to be on your own with that.

The fact the Eganter has grown is a testament to the quality of the amps- Those of us who buy them are not idiots- and to the fact that they have identified what a lot of players seem to want. And to the uniqueness of the designs.

I do agree that Egnater could use a solider and more extensive network of local repair guys. I suspect it is an issue resulting from the growth Bruce speaks of, and I suspect they will resolve it.

 :gethim:

I'm pretty sure Mike and Steve don't check, much less reply to the forums on SUNDAY!!!

Bruce/Jeff--Love you guys!!

I'd have to say you are being a troll because you haven't given us any facts on what your actual problem is and your post is very negative. Bruce offered to help you , either take him up on it and act like a mature person or return to your bridge and scare small children.

Wow, sounds like you have never been here  because if you had and asked your questions or emailed Bruce or Jeff you would have gotten an answer by now, but instead you keep blowing your money out the window and getting pissed at the wrong people.

Funny, you say "The fact is: Bruce no longer has the time to provide the concern and support necessary to maintain the line" and here is an invitation from Bruce, the man himself to email him with the problem your having  I'm sure Steve & Mike would be right on that for you especially on a Sunday...yeah.

Email Bruce...problem solved
