if I cant afford an egnater 2X12,
What is the best 2x12 to get that palm muted tight chugga-chugga vibe and with what speakers?

To be used with SL2 and EG5 modules leaning towards the heavier stuff

Thanks

Earcandy cabs are awesome, but not cheap either. With a nicely optioned 2x12, you are looking at close to a grand.

Avatar cabs are much more affordable. I have an open back 2x12 with a mix of GH30's and Vin 30's. I will not buy another open back for that very reason, not as tight on rythm parts for me. I am gonna pick up one of thier new contemporary cabs though, closed back with probally a mix of Gt-75 and a vin 30. They look pretty sweet and for $380 loaded, thats is a great deal.

Will it compare to an earcandy cab, most likely not.

Vin 30s are nice for chugga I think, can't go wrong with them for the most part. I am gonna try to get teh best of both worlds with the 75's and 30's mixed hopefully.

Egnater 112... sounds as big as or better than any 2x12 and you can carry it with one hand... enough said.

I got the chance to really push the 112 cabinet last night and I can't believe how much bottom end and punch this thing has. The vent in this thing must be just the right size to tune the enclosure to the perfect range. Plus, this thing is LOUD! I haven't had the chance to compare it to other cabinets in the same room but I have no doubt that this would wash out any 112 combo out there. I can't wait for it to loosen up a little more so I can see what it's capable of.

I don't have the tone bra in mine, but it's getting a workout and loosening up real nice. Was a bit stiff at first.........

Agree Jason, even though mine has the bra, it's still a bit stiff and kind of "hard" sounding in the upper notes. I think that is a bit of the signature of the classic lead 80 as well, but I'm sure it will loosen up as it goes. I imagine with the 80 watt power handling it will take a while with some volume to break it in. It does sound very big though! Can't wait gig with it next Saturday with some volume!! It's a pretty rockin' bar so I should be able to crank it a bit.

keep in mind that he was talking about a good affordable 2x12. He actually already has one of the Eggy 1x12's I believe, but at over 600 bucks for one, its cheaper to get an avatar. I havn't heard the 1x12, but I always like having at least 2 speakers, specially mixed and matched, great to mic both and mix in recording!!!

Yup!

actually have 2-1X12's, GC straight and angled 4X12 all egnater cabs. Problem is, they are in three rooms all over our church campus. Our guitarist, is using a 1X12 at the bb kings club until he gets his in and there is so little time to move stuff around. When we record and overdub well pull it together and pick and choose.

BTW- where is the best place to mic the 1X12 cab because of the bra? I typically mic off the center axis.

Jeff told me at the amp fest, that you can just center mic it if you wish due to the tone bra.

I would love to have one of the Eggie 112s but I alreadyhave two EarCandy 212s so I can't justify. One Ear Candy buzzbomb with Sugar Cones and one Boa with Clone and Green Machine. Love em!
