Hi guys,

I'm pretty new to this forum, but I've found many interesting infos ;)

I've seen there are 2 version of M4..
one called "Single Channel", the other "dual channel", am I right?

is there any difference? What do u suggest me to buy?

I'm currently choosing between M4 and CAE 3+ (not SE), any of u have used both?

Single channel version was the first one released the dual channel came later. Both will accept single and dual channel modules although the single channel preamp can only access the first channel of the dual channel modules. The single channel also has an fx loop whereas the newer dual channel version does not. Other than that they are the same.
Either will sound good. If you want to use both channels of the dual modules, get the dual version.

I've used both.

I prefer and still own the dual channel M4.

I don't miss my 3+ at all. It was very brittle and bright for me. Actually, I just didn't like it at all. I would only use it in a Metallica/Megadeth type cover band. cleans aren't as special as everyone says.

Dual Channel M4 of mine is going up for sale here in the next couple days. PM if you are interested.

Thanks man.. I think I should look for the new one:)

I'm also willing to move to M4.. Just hoping I can obtain (once the rack will be end) a nice real, organic and 3d sound..

I wish I wasn't broke or I'd buy your M4. Are you gonna be Egnater free?

So...yes I am selling my M4, but am I leaving modular...hell no!! :) In my rack rig, I am heading back to a Marshall JMP-1 modded w/ the Platinum mod from Trace @ Voodoo. I played one of them through my rig w/ the 9200 I have that has mercury magnetics power / output transformer and F&T filter caps...holy smokes...I love it. I used a JMP-1 modded by Trace for years prior to going to the M4 in 2007.

BUT, my rack setup has a switching system where I can go between two preamps. I'm picking up Jeff's dual channel RM100. Going to load that f-er w/ SED =C= 6550 and EL34s, and use it w/ my modules. That way I can either just use the JMP-1 w/ 9200. Or use the JMP-1 + 3 modules and use the RM100 as the power section.

I didn't need the M4 in that at all. That way I can get my heavy tones and marshall tones from the JMP-1...but still use the RM100 for VX, COD, DLX, Snorkler, and EG3. I am having jeff mod JKDsteve's GNR he sold me to lower the gain on ChB to what ChA's is. And mod ChA to be about 90% of the gain of what the stock ChA is. Let it be a good in between SL module...with the voicing of the SL2X instead.

So, am I leaving Egnater world...hell no. I love the modules I have too much to do that. So rest peacefully tonight! :)
