I know this has been discussed before but the M$ can do Egnater 2 channel modules (of course ) as well as Randall single channel modules .Correct ??? RM4 can only do Randall modules or 1 side of the Egnater modules .

Thanks in advance .Sorry to be redundant .

Yup the M4 takes dualies or singles, has a front and back input, two outs, no loops. RM4 also has front and back inputs, serial and parallel loops, pre loop out, and 2 post loop outs. I have owned both simultaneously and would say that the Egnater is superior in terms of build quality and obviously 4 more channels with the dualies. That being said, I feel that a loaded RM4 with modded Randall modules would cover anyone's needs handily.

Thanks --You've been really helpful.I'm trying to make the correct decision on whether to modify my RM100 ,buy an M4 or buy an RM4.It sounds like the RM4 would work fine but I would have to buy a power amp and midi pedal for either of those 2 options .Not really sure what to do

By the way where in Ohio are you ??

Tough call. The RM100 upgrade + 3 Eggy mods is $1650 at full price. That would make the most sense IMO.

New RM4 + 4 stock Randall mods at full price is around $1450 (new RT2/50 is $1250). You can get Randall's on the used market for dirt cheap like around $100. Theoretically you could get the RM4 loaded for about $1k. You wouldn't need a power amp necessarily as you could just run the out of the RM4 into the FX return of the RM100. Kinda silly though as you wouldn't be able to use slots in the RM100 and would only gain one channel.

Modification of modules can be expensive dependent upon who you use. I sent my Deluxe off to Jaded Faith (Rob) in NJ and he fixed me up for cheap (under $200). Quality work.

I will say that having had both preamps the M4 is the one I kept. Loaded M4 is $2100 and a good power amp about $1450. Then you factor in the rack, midi controller, power conditioner, etc and you're around $4k.

Columbus

I like the Randall modules I have but having another slot would be real helpful .I also thought of the M4 or RM4 going through the return on any one of my amps and pitching the RM100.I might have to think about this one .

I'm also in northwest Columbus.Surprised we haven't crossed paths in one of the stores in Columbus.I don't know too many guys using
the modular stuff.

I run through Columbus about twice a month and just picked up a RM50. I am looking to trade the single channel Egnater SL+ that came in it if either of you were looking to trade for one. I will be running through town on Friday night and Sunday night this weekend actually.

Hey, chode - what power conditioner are you using?

PM'ed you. I nearly snagged that RM50 from Jeff. Great buy. I take it the single DLX is to your liking?

I really like the DLX. I keep trying to get a bad sound out of it but I have not been able to do it yet. It takes pedals very well too.

Yeah German Village is the only dealer in town I know of. Grant is who is responsible for getting me hooked. I don't get out frequently though it looks like that is about to change. I just secured a rhythm section and some studio time at Sonic Lounge in Grove City.
