I have a tweaker 88, I have had it for about a week, ordered it from guitar center. Since day one it has made this intermittent noise, I have played it for about 4 hours at a time and each session it will make the noise a couple times. It is a crackling/sizzling/crickets kinda noise which seems to eminate near the fan or power switch side of the amp. I lasts about 10 seconds each time. Any ideas? I thought maybe it was the power in my house, switched plugs and it still does it so Im not sure. I sent egnater an email on the website but havent heard back, so just thought i would post here and see if anyone has had the same issue to see what it may be. Thanks.

Tubes. Make sure they are seated well. Try replacing them. It's worth it to have some spares anyway.

Thanks, So since the tubes are under warranty will Egnater send me some? Or will have have to take it into guitar center?

Oh and I didnt mention, but it will make the noise with it in standby and playing. not only while playing.

check the fan, you can take off the back metal screen (carefull, the fan is attached to the metal sceen). something might be hitting the fan or the fan could be making the noise. You can disconect the fan (its a two wire connector) to check it. I have the 88 and love it, good luck.

They will. Contact nate@egnateramps.com. He might put you through some checking to figure out which ones it is and only replace those, but they will replace them if it is 90 days or less. They have done that for me. Forget Guitar Center for this kind of thing, unless you just want to exchange it for another one. I wouldn't bother with that. Tubes are tubes are tubes. They can be problematic in any tube amp made by anybody.

If it is brand new, don't take your time and get frustrated trying to figure out the problem yourself. It is under warranty so don't try replacing tubes or ???? Do contact Nate@egnateramps.com right away for assistance.

I have sent a couple emails, no response, Nate if you see this can you message me.

no word back from egnater, I have sent 4 emails. I am going to return the amp, guitar center said I could exchange it since it hasnt been thirty days.

I am very sorry you did not receive an e-mail back last week. Unfortunately we were doing NAMM preparation and did not have internet access at the hotel we stayed at. If you have not returned the amp yet, please do send Nate one last e-mail. Feel free to copy me(Ian@egnater.com) as well, and we will make sure you get taken care of.

I did exchange it, but for the same amp. I drove to a guitar center near me, about two hours and they checked it out and said they could just send me a new one. The guy at the store said it could be a few things but has seen the same problem before, said some thing to do with a ground in the effects loop..I dont know. I should have a new one in a few days and I guess somewhere someone will figure out what that noise was...and for what its worth..I really dig the amp thats why I decided to just go for the same one.

well I got my new amp, the second one..and yeah this one doesnt work right either..the foot switch doesnt work, and it creates a nice audible pop when I change the vintage to modern switch, and it is making the same intermittent noise the last one made.

returned the amp and the cabinet today...picked up a Mesa Boogie Express 5:50. I have to say I did like the tone of the egnater amp, and the features, but I was concerned with the reliability after getting two with issues. oh well.
