Egnater Maniacs: Who has A/B'ed a Fish with an M4 or IE4?

I'm sick of the Fish hype, but I can't do anything about it, since I've never played one.

I just jammed extensively on my IE4 and M4, and can't believe something like a blue faceplate and some guy's name can make the thing cost $3k, especially considering the features, parts, design, etc.

Should I buy one of the reissues to find out, or would I be "Uber"-disappointed.

Buy the FISH and try it, if you dig it keep it and if not sell it and at the very least get your money back if not a profit, no brainer there. at least it was for me.

No clue! I am in the same dillema and am thinking I will be uber-disappointed once I get it. Grooveking over at HRI owns one of the older fish's and still says he prefers the M4 so..

SteveVHT vastly preferred the CAE 3+SE and the VHT GP-3

I have had 3 over the years. One with the shark mod, one with the anthrax mod and one cantrell. They all were cool but my IE4 just sounded better and was half the cost. I just played an IE4 that had channel 4 modded to the fish and again it was just meh!

Considering that the M4 is up to eight channels of all different tone and the fish is dirty and clean...seems like a lot of money for it!

Some people say November.

The very first time I ever played an ie4 was in a guitar shop in Honolulu, and the ie4 was in a rack with a Fish and some other pre - think it was a Groove Tubes. Anyway, I really liked both a ton. I didn't think they are comparable as the ie4 seeded to have it's roots more in classic 70s and 80s tones - to my ears anyway. I felt like the Bogner stuff had this shark-like, aggressive thing happening, that although cool at first, eventually started to grate on me. I had a Bogner Ecstasy, so the Fish seemed more than redundant. A year later, I played on at NAMM and was sold. First Egnater...something like in '97.

Don't ever buy anything based on what people on forums say! We're all a bunch of dipshits. Just get try to get a hold of one and play it to death. If you are in a geographically isolated place, this can be a pain, I know.
