Hi guys, I hope someone can answer this question,
Can the Mod50 midi foot pedal also control another midi device? I want to buy a Voodoo Labs GCX loop switcher which is only switchable by midi. I want to plug 4 eq's into the GCX switcher, then, if possible, program the Mod50 pedal to switch eq.1 on at the same time as channel 1 of a module, Eq.2 with channel 2 of a module, and so on. That way, i can have dedicated eq's for each channel and not have to buy a separate midi foot controller. Has anyone tried this????

Yes you can do this, except you wouldn't be programming the Mod50 pedal, You would be programming the GCX switcher to toggle the eqs on PGC 1 through 4. But yes, the pedal will control it.

W/ the GCX you won't be able to do that since it uses CC messages to control it. You have to send CC #80-88 for a latched switch or CC #104-111 for a Momentary switch. You can not send CC messsages w/ the 4-button Egnater midi pedal. It just sends program changes 1-4 on all 16 midi channels. You need to get a Axess electronics MIDI pedal board, a Voodoo Lab Ground Control Pro, or something else that can send CC Messages to the GCX.

If you got a Axess Electronics GRX4 Guitar Router/Switcher, it has the ability to take a program change to turn off / turn on loops. This would allow you to use the 4-button Egnater pedal, since you could just program the GRX4 to turn loop 1 on w/ program change 1, loop 2 for PC 2, etc. Plus it's a smaller solution that doesn't have the requirement to be rack mounted.

The GCX switcher doesn't change w/ PGC's. It only changes w/ CC messages. At least no GCX I've ever owned changed on PGC's, and the manual says it can only be operated w/ CC messages.

Plus, the GCX can't be "programmed." You have to program your midi foot controller to tell the GCX what loops to turn on / off.

Thanks guys,
It was wishful thinking anyway. So, i need a dedicated midi foot controller then. By the way, what looper switching/floor control system do you recommend (i need at least 8 loops)

Thanks

I've been an avid user of the GCX / Ground Control Pro and they have worked for me really well.

Rocktron Patchmate is a good option if your not wanting to spend too much dough. You can find them used on eBay all the time. I still have one that I use time to time for switching pedals in and out and us it with the matching MidiMate. Sounds good and has 8 loops . Axess has the GRX4 which you can chain to another for more loops.
Voodoo Labs makes a floor-based loop switcher that looks nice and of course, like others have already said, the GCX and the ground control pro.

You have a lot of options. Depends on how much you want to spend and if you want to program midi or not.

Oops, your right... I got the GCX confused with the GRX4.

Which is made by Axxess and it will do exactly what you are asking for Peter. For way less money too.

Thanks,
i will download the GRX manual and study it. I have never programed a midi device before but now is the time to start i guess!!

Cheers

It works exactly like the Egnater midi. The GRx4 has four loop. Put your EQ's in each loop. Select channel one, push the button until you get the loop 1 activated and that's it. Every time you select button 1 on the foot controller, loop one will engage. Now do the same for 2, 3 & 4 with the corresponding loops and footswitches. Done.

the grx4 will do that no problem. i love my grx4 / mfc5 combo.

if you want to run the eq pedals in the series loop, you need to open up the grx4 and disable the buffer.

Highly recommend the Axess stuff.

Mario the owner is extremely helpful.

He just spent about (2) weeks sending e-mails back and forth, helping me re-program my Axess FX1 and GRX4 so that my entire rig works on control change messages, couldn't be happier!

Excellent, reliable and about a million uses for thier stuff.
