Egnater Mod 50: 6V6 Tubes....JJ only???? really...?

I've got a quartet of new MESA 6V6 tubes, and these won't work in my Mod 50? only JJ's? Why, please..???

JJ's are the only 6V6 tube out that can handle the plate voltage in the Mod 50.

The JJ tubes are the only 6V6 I am aware of that is actually rated to handle the 500V plate voltage. Not saying there isn't others though. I can't comment on the Mesa's, since they don't make their own tubes, so it's hard to tell what they really are.
