Hey Guys,

As I posted earlier I just picked up my MOD100 and played it till 2am last night and all day today. Really loving it. I am auditioning for a new band tomorrow night. I was going to just bring along my Diezel Einstein combo but I am getting a killer tone from the Egg and now want to bring that.

I am going to run up to GC at noon today with the intention of checking out a Tourmaster 2x12 cab and getting one to take to the audtion if it sounds cool.

So Question #1: Any opinions on these and the 80 watt Celestions in them?

Question #2: I need a simple footswitch to change the channels on the head. Any recommendations of something that will work that is readily available at GC? (Will any midi footswitch work plugged into the midi in)?

I already am planning on a legit rig for this with my GCX and FX-1 Footswitch but I don't have time for that before tomorrows gig.

Any advise is appreciated. Loving this head!

Brad

I prefer a cab with v30's or K100's in personally.

You can't really go wrong with vintage 30's unless you hate mids

Hey,

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I am intimatley farmilar with V30's and have several 4x12's(Marshall, Bogner) with them in it.

My question is specifically about the 80 watt Speakers in the Eggie Tourmaster 2x12?

Any midi controller will work.
If you buy a 7-pin midi cord you can take advantage of the 9-volt phantom power supply eliminating the need for wall warts to power foot controller.
No info on the tourmaster with elite 80's..............sorry.

ah timing...my friend just got a TM2x12 and we were going to plan on having a little gear fest and compare everything, but that won't be till tomorrow or a few days after. Can you call someone up at GC and see if you can test it out in a more isolated room? You can also try and take advantage of their return policy to try it out at home.

I'm interested in the CL80s a well. Egnater uses v30s in 4x12 but then cl80s in 1x12s and 2x12s, so I'm wondering if those are suppose to sound somewhat equal.

Went to GC today and bought the Egnater TM 2x12 today ($350 out the door) and paired it with the MOD, so far so good. Doesnt sound as good as my Bogner 4x12 w/ V30's but I think it is physics in play there. Sounds damn good though, will take it out tomorrow to play with the band so we will see how it hangs.

I am in desperate need of a midi foot switch to change channels. Will head out to find a VL Ground Control Pro Tomorrow. I knew I shouldnt of sold the extra one I had

I actually ended up going over to my friends house to check it out. Mind you it was only at low volumes since it was relatively late. Strat into a rebel into TM 2x12 and it sounded wonderful, just an ideal clean tone. Had this great bubble/pop, sounded almost as if there was some tube reverb on it (in a good way). I didn't try it for anything other than that sound though.

He got it for 360 through musiciansfriend because they had that "hush" sale last week (and orders over 1k were 20% off, and he ordered the rebel head too). Care to share your bargaining strategies at GC to get it for 350 (even including tax?)? Someone told me they were trying to stop bargaining over at GC, i guess that's not true.
Even for what they are asking for the cab it's a no brainer. Hopefully within the next few days I should be able to compare it to the CAA 2x12 I have, but I have v30s in there so there's going to be a lot of variables. Judging from what I heard today though, I don't think my cab is going to blow it out of the water, and it cost me about twice as much. The TM 2x12 also has a screw off back to run it open back.

Here is my compact Mod rig. The Egg TM cabinet is probably the best buy on a 2x12 cab anywhere. Very well built, heavy casters, back panel that comes off to be half closed half open and Stereo to boot. Just a cool cab that matches up great with the Mod 100 head.

I know the guys at Guitar Center, I just told them I could get it for 20% off at Music123.com and if they would do the same I would buy it from them. They said cool.

Little known fact: Only pins 2, 4 and 5 are used for the actual midi protocol, 2 being ground. Pins 1 and 3 aren't connected to anything normally so that's probably why you get phantom power without using a 7-pin cable.

i wouldn't say thats a little known fact.. but thanks for the info!

Your right ....................
My old Digital Ground control pedal was powered through the 6 & 7 pins.

The newer Ground Control Pro is powered using the standard 5-pin midi cord.
